Air Liquide Welding offers you a high-precision plasma arccutting machine equipped with an anti-dazzle device to protectthe operator and the immediate environment from the effectsof the electric arc used in plasma cutting.

ALPHATOMEThe machine blendsin perfectly with its shopenvironment causingno visual discomfort.

No special protectiveequipment (gogglesor masks) is requiredfor personnel andoperators workingat or near the machine.

DesignThe machine is designed to offerall the characteristics required formachine tool operation:

• high-precision guidance alongthe X, Y and Z axes through theuse of linear guideline systems,

• high-quality drive guaranteedby the use of brushless motors,

• tough railways with rigidstructure perfectly suitedto process requirements.

The cross beam is composed of twoelements supporting the transverseguide rails to ensure extremelyprecise torch positioning. The twocross-beam elements are spaced toaccommodate an optional servo-controlled bevelling or drilling unit.

ALPHATOME ’s overall designoffers all the advantages requiredfor plasma arc cutting:

• effective trajectory control

• precise positioning to thenearest 0.1 mm, measuredat the height of the cutting jobregardless of position (lengthor width),

• perfect interactivity betweenmachine movements andprocess management.

ALPHATOME has been designedfor easy integration in a workshop.Depending on the options selected,supply lines are installed on the rightor left, while the position of thecontrol console is determined bythe conditions of use.

ALPHATOME is a single-torchsystem (twin-torch optionavailable) intended for plasma arccutting operations on non-alloy orlow-alloy carbon steel, stainless steelor aluminium alloy plates with amaximum thickness of 50 mm.Machines with an effective widthup to 4 m. are available, dependingon your application. Modularelements (2 m, 3 m) are used toobtain a required effective length.This machine is controlled by theHPC DIGITAL PROCESS systemand is used to control NERTAJETHP 150 or HP 300 cutting systems.

Precision is a mandatory requirement in high-quality plasmaarc cutting. ALPHATOME uses high plasma process to cutand mark un-alloyed and low-alloy carbon steel, stainless steel,and aluminium alloy plates ranging from 0.5 mm to 50 mmin thickness.

CoverMachine cover

The beam comes with a “cover” made up of the following main parts (depending on model):

• a front guard curtain that lifts up - it is controlled by the numerical control HPC,

• a fixed rear guard curtain,

• two quick-opening side doors providing easy access to the torch(es)to replace wear parts, thanks toits ergonomic design.

This “beam cover” protection is designed to providevisual shielding against the plasma arc.At any point during the process, theoperator can lift the front curtain toview cutting progress.

Railways cover

The railways cover providesincreased protection for operatorsand equipment.

ALPHATOME is therefore ahighly practical, attractive machine,guaranteeing optimum operating safety.

Safety devices5 emergency stops:4 are positioned in eachcorner of the machineand 1 on the numericalcontrol. Operator worksin full safety environment.

2 photocell perimetricemergency stops are locatedin front and rear of themachine. This high safetydevices secure the cuttingarea. Machine stops as soonas it finds an obstacle.

2 switches to stop the machine cycle are located inthe opening side doors and connected to the keylocking. It guarantee that the machine start in safetycondition after wear parts have been exchanged

Remote control

VISIOPROCESS

A compact remotecontrol option isproposed to makethe operator’s workeasier.

This option is designed to control themain machine operations so that theoperator no longer needs to go backand forth between the control consoleand work area.

Remote control also means addedsafety as it allows the machine to beswitched off from a distance.

A camera is used to display the torch position on acontrol screen.

The monitored area is about 250 mm in diameter andpromotes correct positioning before and during cutting.

The device also monitors the arc.

The operator can control cutting operations andposition the torch no matter where the controlconsole is located.

The camera is protected by an anti-dazzledevice to protect it from the effects of theplasma arc. The operator can choosebetween a monochrome or colour display.

The system is configured and structured for use byvarious members of your personnel, even those with nospecialist knowledge of the plasma process.

This control concept for plasma arc cutting machines has beenspecially developed for installation in modern machine shops atthe leading edge of technology. It implements the latest progressin plasma arc cutting for all materials conducting electricity,non-alloy and low-alloy steel, stainless steeland light alloys.

HPC DIGITAL PROCESS runs on Windows XP installed on an industrial computer.

The system is composed of the following: numerical control, process control,human machine interface, touch screen, control console for switching on andemergency shutdown.

Drilling unit systemNew device to drill holes directly on the cutting table.The drilling head can be useful for:

• infrastructure customer to drill beam componentsto reach a good concentricity for hole and to reduceheat affected zone,

• thick material to reduce piercing time making a pre-hole.
