Plateau Indians Teepee Since the Plateau region

is so close to the Great Plains region the Plateau Indians do build teepees. The teepees are usually made from 10 to 18 buffalo hides. Also they used the tendon of the buffalo to tie the shape of the teepee together(in which they made the shape from the very few trees they did have).

Plateau Indians Earth homes and Long Houses

The Plateau Indians also built earth homes and long houses. To build the earth homes the Plateau Indians would dig a big hole and cover it up with dirt(as seen to top right). They also would build long houses. They built these by first making the frame by using long wooden poles and then they covered it up using hides and tree bark.

Interaction with White Man At first the interaction with

white man was friendly. Until, the white man pushed them onto land reserves because they wanted they’re land. But then, the chief(Chief Joseph seen to right bottom)led a expedition to Canada during the war. Along the way white man diseases like small pox killed hundreds in the tribe. Sadly, when they were only 40 miles from the border white man attacked and killed everybody.
