The Passenger Benefit Fund

Following disruption faced by passengers in summer 2018

- The Secretary of State for Transport announced that GTR would contribute £15m towards a passenger benefit fund

- The fund will be used to provide tangible benefits for passengers to improve their journeys

- 3 MP’s, Bim Afolami, Heidi Allen and Henry Smith were appointed to oversee the programme, one from each route affected in May 2018 (Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern)

- We are conducting a three month engagement programme with passenger groups, councils and stakeholders to decide what tangible benefits the fund will deliver.

What can we do?

• Review the outstanding proposals on our own Schedule of Works:• Accessible toilet (Oct17) – Patrick arranging feasibility visit

• Audible and visible train information right along Platform 4

• Raised area on Platform 4 to enable unassisted boarding on to Class 717s

• (New) Tap to support Station Garden

• Agree a HWRUG proposal for submission by 31st July• Let us know tonight if you want to be involved

• Consider both local and wider benefits – eg raised platform area at Highbury

• And make individual proposals – take a leaflet as you leave

IOA: ISOLATION, OYSTER and ACCESSIBILITY

• 2018 Timetable Campaign• Two years of hard work by HWRUG to convert an initial proposal of 2tph into a

commitment to a 4tph metro service every day of the week

• May 2018 Timetable debacle• Limited 4tph weekday services subsequently introduced last year

• But no further improvements to timetable yet in prospect….

• And frequent cancellations and delays to current service
