Camp Thompson is located in beautiful Michaux State Forest and is just a short drive from Carlisle Pennsylvania. Camp Thompson has served the Carlisle community and others for almost a century with affordable, quality programming. The camp is nestled between Fuller and Laurel lakes and along the historic Appalachian Trail. Camp Thompson is situated on 50 acres of lush forests, flowing creeks and adventurous trails. All of these features make for a great summer destination for field trips, school trips or other group outings.

The camp facilities include but are not limited to a pavilion, modern bath house, alpine tower, low ropes course with over 10 elements, archery range, 10 sleep-over cabins, volleyball court, dining hall, full kitchen, fire rings, health center, basketball court, nature and OLS areas. We offer a number of exciting programs to our visitors.

Located in the Allegheny Moun-tains of beautiful central Pennsylva-nia, Grier Summer offers camp pro-grams using the campus of the Grier School, a historic girls boarding school. Whether a camper chooses horseback riding, visual or perform-ing arts or a combination of all three opportunities, each venue offers state of the art facilities with small classes and individual attention.

WE LOvE HORSES!Allegheny Riding Camp is our

premier camp for girls who love horses. We welcome all levels from beginner to advanced rider, English seat, Hunter/Jumper. Riding camp-

ers ride five days out of seven for each three-week session, and ride the same horse for the entire ses-sion. Grier Summer has two indoor arenas and two outdoor arenas. There are Friday judged horse shows and an exhibition horse show for parents at the end of camp. Allegheny Riding Camp has a rich tradition of teaching girls self-confi-dence through horsemanship and a love of horses

The Show Camper Program is a travel team for the advanced rider, ages 11to 17, with “A” and “AA” showing experience. The campers travel to shows in Pennsylvania,

Ohio and New york. Horses and ponies are welcome to attend! The trainer for the Show Camper Pro-gram is Emily Zientek, a ten-year veteran of middle school and high school varsity teams at Grier School where she is the Director of the Rid-ing programs. Emily is the current national president of the IEA (Inter-scholastic Equestrian Association).

WE LOvE THE ARTS!Allegheny Camp for the Arts is

perfect for girls looking for a fun camp experience in a beautiful, serene location with top-notch arts facilities. Activities are taught by counselors, Grier School teachers, or professionals hired for summer activities. Activities include classes in dance, theater, pottery and ceramics, mixed media, drawing and painting, digital photography and creative writing. Our creative writing classes are often taught by visiting children’s authors. There are two intensives for girls who want to concentrate on dance or theater.

Intensive Dance Program is geared toward the serious inter-mediate to advanced dancer, ages 12-17. Classes include, but are not limited to, stretch and strength, ballet, modern and jazz technique, and choreography for performance. Styles in performances have in-cluded ballet, classical jazz, African, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary and modern.

Intensive Musical Theatre is for girls, age 10 to 17, who love musical theatre. In this program, girls work together to produce a full-length musical production in three weeks time! It’s lots of hard work but the performances win cheers from families, friends and staff! The 2013 production is The Wizard of Oz.

THE yOUNGER CAMPERGrier Summer offers two pro-

grams for the younger camper. The Mother/Daughter Camp is a unique opportunity for younger campers to experience an overnight camp with-out the anxiety of being separated

from mom. Junior Camp offers a five-day camp for young girls not quite ready for the three-week ex-perience. Both programs are small, with lots of attention from staff. And, both programs offer horseback riding.

Mountain Lake Camp is a coed summer camp located in South Central Pennsylvania. Established in 1924, Mountain Lake Summer Camp has been providing children with an ideal summer camp experience for almost 90 years. Our campers can canoe in beautiful Mountain Lake, swim in our on-site pool, or take ad-vantage of the 7,000 acre preserve that borders our camp.

Our campers may also participate

An overnight, coed summer camp for kids age 7-16, Mountain Lake is one of the last great overnight sum-mer camp destinations remaining in the United States. Situated in the pristine rolling hills of south-central Pennsylvania, the camp is nestled

BucksMont Indoor Sports Center 2013 Summer Day Camp is the place to send your kids for fun this sum-mer! Children ages 6-12 will have the chance to enjoy up to 11 weeks of camp activities in a climate controlled atmosphere. CIT ProgramOlder Children will love the Counselor in Traniing Pro-gram. If your child wants to consider becoming a camp coun-selor or work with children when they get older this is the perfect program to help them prepare for it. By shadow and assisting the camp staff, the CIT’s will gain the experience and confidence that they need to work with children. They will get to assist in organizing the games and activities and they will also participate. We ask that anyone registering for this program understand that they will be viewed by the younger kids as role models and we ask that they act in a mature manner as a CIT. CITs may participate in swim trips at no cost, how-ever a $10 field trip/ entertainment fee applies to all other trips or entertainment that comes to the facility.

At Rainbow Academy, the acreage is large enough to afford young children up to age 12 opportunities in all sports, yet, small enough to provide a safe and nurturing experi-ence where all campers and staff get to know each other.

Summer staff counselors are teach-ers, with knowledge and experience to give each child a chance to excel. Heated swimming pools provide 45 minutes of daily fun and respite from the heat.

Activities include• swimming lessons,• horseback riding or pony rides,• music,• yoga and exercise,• ball sports,• field hockey,• ga-ga,• soccer,• gardening and nature,• art,• movement,• playground and trikes,• indoor activities (computers,

Children learn to love and care for animal friends in our petting zoo -- including Rosalina (miniature donkey), Candy (the pony) and her horse friends, lambs, a goat, and chickens.

Each week sponsors special themed activities. Two weeks of “Spirit Weeks”, promote character building and cooperative play as children participate in games and accumu-late points for teamwork. Older groups participate in a “buddy” program, where they help younger children and children with special needs attending Carousel Farm’s Educational Center.
