IntroductionObjective of our project is to make six

different colors by mixing three basic colors in different proportions.

Three basic colors are Red, Blue & Yellow. For each required color, there is a unique

ratio r:b:y.

Page 4: PLC Based Paint Mixing Machine

Manual OperationTake the certain quantities of basic colors in

predetermined ratio (r:b:y), as per the quantity of final color required.

For ex: To obtain 2 liters of Purple color, take 1 liter of red & blue colors each.

i.e r:b:y = 1:1:0Take the basic colors in a mixing vessel and

mix them using a hand operated stirrer until uniform final color is obtained.

Drawbacks of Manual Operation/Need of Automation

Precise ratios of three main colors are required to obtain the desired color.

Maintaining precise ratio each time is very difficult and time consuming job.

This precision can be achieved with automatic operation of the same mixing machine.

What is AutomationAutomation is the delegation of human

control function to technical equipment.Automation equipment can make action

happen much faster, more reliably and more consistently than a human can.

In this project PLC is used for Automation.

Programmable Logic Controllers(PLC)PLC is a digitally operated electronic system

which is used for implementing functions such as logic, sequencing, timing, counting & arithmetic to control various machines through digital or analog input/output modules.

Conclusion

The most important aspect of any color industry mixing which is main part which is controlled using PLC. The method that has to be used relies on varied objectives like superior quality, increased efficiency, high profit and other such points depending upon the purpose of the company that implies it. With the prime objective of catering to these necessities and the needs of the industrial sector, significance has been given here to automation.
