Limoges : the success story of ceramics

•1979 : Arrival of ENSCI Engineer School of Ceramics in Limoges (School of Sèvres)

•1981 : Creation of Laboratoire des Céramiques Nouvelles (LCN – LA 320)

•1984 : Creation of CTTC (Technical center of ceramics) labellized CRT (ex-CTPL)

•1992 : Evolution & expansion of the research vocation of the laboratory (laboratory LMCTS, URA CNRS)

•1998 : Creation of the Laboratory Science of Ceramic Processes & Surface treatments (SPCTS UMR CNRS)

•1998 : Creation of CITRA (Engineering center of surface treatments and advanced coatings) labellized CRT

80’s until 2000 – fromtraditional to

advanced ceramics

•2005 : Creation of the cluster Pôle Européen de la Céramique (PEC, competitiveness cluster)

•2010 : Mutualisation of research activities in the building « Centre Européen de la Céramique » (CEC)

•2011 : Laboratory of Excellence Sigma-Lim with XLIM (common research & training activities)

•2015 : Integration of GEMH lab (Heterogeneous materials laboratory– EA 3178) to SPCTS

•2017 : Fusion of 2 engineer schools ENSCI and ENSIL into ENSIL-ENSCI

•2017 : Limoges received the label of Creative City of Unesco and Geographical Indication for Limoges porcelain

•2018 : SPCTS becomes IRCER (Research Institute of Ceramics)

Since 2005 –affirmation of a

sector excellence (Training, Research,

Transfert…)
