“Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their
inability to repay you." (Luke 14:13-14)
We have a difficult time with the
concept of giving without expecting something in return. Even when we give to charity we
often want something in return – a raffle ticket, a dinner, a chance to play golf or our name in print. Yet, as Christian
stewards, we need to remember that the true reward for our giving awaits us in heaven.
LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
Humility is often misunderstood as feeling inferior about our-selves and carrying around feelings of unworthiness. For many, humility is not considered a strength of character but a negative attribute and sign of weakness. Conversely, in fact, authentic humility is found in the person who is firmly grounded in reali-ty, able to be honest with him or herself, and in right relation-ship with others and God. A humble person understands his or her place in life and who they are. While placing themselves at the service of others, they are comfortable in their own skin and able to step aside and let others go first. Knowing our proper place in life, offering appropriate respect, and looking to the needs of others are things that will enhance our lives and the lives of our brothers and sisters. Are you humble?

Music Ministry Many of our music ministry groups which have been on “summer hiatus” will be starting soon. Here’s some quick info: Children’s Choir (ages 5-11) and Junior Choir (11 and up), will resume Tuesday, September 10. You can register after all Masses this weekend as part of “Stewardship of Faith” or go on our parish website to the music ministry page. You can also e-mail me at [email protected] for more info. 9:30 and 11:30 Choir will begin rehearsing the week of Sep-tember 9. 11:30 choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. 9:30 choir meets on Thursday evenings at 7pm. All rehearsals are in the music room, which located in the large portable di-rectly behind Rosary Hall. Both these groups are always in need of new members, men and women, in all voice parts. Experience with choral singing a plus but not required. Our Resurrection Choir sings for funerals and is open to new members. We meet a half-hour before each funeral. No pre-vious experience necessary. If you are interested in this, you can call the parish office and leave me a message, or e-mail me at [email protected]. If you are interested in joining the Spanish Music Ministry or the Life Teen Band, please feel free to visit the following link to find out how to get involved: https://ladyrosary.org/music We have a great and vibrant music ministry which helps God’s faithful give praise and worship and grow in their faith. We can use your help to continue to make it the joyful noise that it is.
I used to think you needed to be special for God to use you, but now I know you simply need to say yes. | Bob Goff

An Invitation from the Office of the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute (LPMI). People often ask how
they might grow in their faith. The LPMI of the Dio-cese of St. Petersburg was founded in 1997. It is a four
year program: an informal year of discernment and three years of formal academic training and spiritual growth. The initial segment, the Year of Discernment, consists of eight Saturday sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The classes meet at Christ the King Parish (821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa). Classes begin on September 14, 2019 and continue once monthly through April 2020. Through an integrated process of education and ongoing faith formation, we provide an opportunity for Catho-lics across the Diocese to grow spiritually, intellectually, and pastorally. For more information: go to www.dosp.org/lpmi; email [email protected]; or call 727.344.1611. Registrations are due in the LPMI office no later than Sept. 9, 2019.
