Eligibility

Only purebred Afghan Hounds, Azawakhs, Basenjis, Borzoi, Cirneco Dell'Etna, Greyhounds, Ibizan Hounds, Italian Greyhounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Norrbottenspets, Peruvian Inca Orchids, Pharaoh Hounds, Portuguese Podengos, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Salukis, Sloughis, Scottish Deerhounds, Thai Ridgebacks, and Whippets that are one year of age or older and have been registered with The American Kennel Club or an AKC recognized foreign registry or that have been granted an Indefinite Listing Privilege (ILP) or Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL) may be entered. Breed disqualifications apply. Note: Italian Greyhounds and Foundation Stock Service (FSS) breeds are not eligible to compete for Best in Field.

Junior Courser and Qualifying Courser Offered

Junior Courser (JC): Open to all eligible sighthounds. A hound running alone must receive a certification from a judge on one date, and a second certification from a different judge at a later date, with each judge stating that the hound completed a minimum 600-yard course with a minimum of 4 turns. The hound must complete the entire course with enthusiasm and without interruption. Qualifying Courser (QC): Open to all eligible sighthounds. The qualifying hound will run with another hound, completing a (minimum) 600-yard course with a minimum of 5 turns. The qualifying hound must complete the entire course with enthusiasm, without interruption, and without coursing, interfering with, or aggressing on the other hound. Owner of qualifying dog must provide or arrange for a hound of like running style for their hound to run with in this test.

Stakes Offered Open: Open only to hounds of eligible breed, with no breed disqualifications, that hold an

AKC QC certificate or have run in the Open Stake prior to Jan. 1,2010, or have a Senior Courser title or have an ASFA or CKC field champion title. (a copy of this title must be attached to the entry form if the QC requirement is to be waived). Championship points are awarded from this stake. Open Veteran: Open only to hounds that are eligible to enter either Open or Special Stake, and are of Veteran age as determined by their Parent Breed Club. Championship or LCX points may be awarded from this stake. Special: Open only to hounds that are eligible to enter the Open Stake and

have earned their AKC Field Championship title. LCX points may be awarded from this stake. Hounds under disqualification from AKC, ASFA or CKC Field Trials may not be entered. Singles: Open to all hounds of eligible breed, including those that are

otherwise disqualified from entering the regular stakes (open, specials and veteran). Hounds entering in the singles stake may not also enter a regular stake at the same event. No championship or LCX points are awarded from this stake.

WHEN YOU SIGN THE ENTRY FORM, YOU AUTOMATICALLY

EXTENDING THEIR PLACE TO YOU. THE FOLLOWING RULES

HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR THE GOOD OF ALL EXHIBITORS

CONCERNED.

All exhibitors read the regulations on hotel/motel accommodations.

All motels accepting dogs require plastic under crates

Plastic sheeting is to be placed under every crate in motel rooms. This will keep carpets clean & dry. It will be the responsibility of each exhibitor to provide his/her own plastic sheeting for each crate.

Dogs must be crated when owner is out of the room. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times while in the hotel, lobbies or on

hotel grounds. Rooms & lobby must be kept clean of dog debris.

Dogs should be “exercised” in designated areas on motel premises. Every dog

owner/handler is expected to pick up after his/her dog & dispose of waste in

designated trash cans. It is the responsibility of the dog owner to find out from the

innkeeper where these areas & cans are located.

Due to severe clogging problems with the drain pipes, no dog may be bathed

in the hotel. Crating & bathing facilities with hot & cold water are available at

the show site.

Rooms will be inspected daily by members of the hotel staff & observed

violations or damages will be reported to the hotel management and/or the

investigative committee.

The investigative committee,working with a fair & equitable system, is

charged with investigating complaints.

Each dog owner/registrant is expected to cooperate with the investigative

committee, hopefully settling damage claims on the spot, or else must be

willing to furnish information such as insurance policy numbers & other

pertinent information as required/requested.

Should a hotel/motel, for cause, deem it necessary to cancel room privileges,

the registrant agrees to forego legal actions against CLUSTER CLUBS & the

hotel/motel.

As an exhibitor, be aware that violations may be referred to the Event

FIELD

The field has a little shade. 3 and 4 board horse fencing . Rough mowed grass with

slightly hilly terrain.

Please bring your own shade and water.

Battery powered, continuous loop lure machines will be used. The lure will consist

of plastic strips.

Only the Lure Operator, Huntmaster, Judges and Handlers of the hounds running in

the course in progress will be permitted near the lure machine. The members of the

Greyhound Association of North Georgia reserve the right to alter the course plan

as required by weather and/or field conditions on the day of the trial.

NOTICE TO ALL EXHIBITORS

All entries must be one year of age or older on the day of the test.

• Each dog requires an individual entry form for each event in which it is entered. Or enter online (EASIER!!)

• Entries will not be accepted without fees, signatures, or the “Agreement” found on the Official AKC Entry Form.

• Bitches in season and lame dogs will be refused entry and, if presented at inspection, will be refunded entry fees.

• Mixed breeds must be spayed or neutered to be eligible to run. AKC registered dogs with breed disqualifications may be entered.

• Coursing is an athletic activity that can tax a dog’s physical strength.

• Dogs that are overweight and/or out of condition may be at greater risk for injury and exhaustion. The Inspection Committee has the authority to disallow a dog’s entry into a test, and in such instances, applicable entry fees will be refunded.

• Battery powered, continuous loop lure machines will be used. The lure will consist of white plastic strips. Backup equipment will be available.

• Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian’s recommendation to assure their dogs are free of parasites, any communicable diseases and have appropriate vaccinations.

• The Huntmaster is responsible for field safety and therefore he/she is in complete charge of all dogs and handlers on the field. In service to this responsibility, he/she has the authority to stop the lure in any

potentially dangerous situation and signal the handler to retrieve a testing dog.

• Any decisions made by the event’s officiating judge(s) regarding the performance of an entered dog shall be final. Full discretionary power is given to the judge(s) to withhold any and all qualifications for

lack of merit. The Judge(s) is responsible for ensuring compliance with the AKC Regulations on the field.

• No entry fees will be refunded if the event cannot be started or completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, extreme and/or dangerous weather conditions, an act of God, public emergency, act

of a public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club or its members and representatives.

• Persons exhibiting conduct detrimental to AKC/GANG/any dog(s)/other person(s) will be asked to leave the trial site.

• The event-hosting club, its agents, members, representatives, volunteers, etc., assume no liability or responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs

or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children or spectators before, during, or after this event

• There will be restroom facilities located near the field. Bring your own shade. No littering. Pick up after your dogs. There will be a $5.00 fine for NOT cleaning up after your hounds. There will be a $5.00 fine for any dogs off lead on the trial grounds ~ including after the trial. A $5.00 fee for any cigarette butts on the ground.

• All rights to televise, videotape, advertise, photograph, promote or otherwise exploit this event are vested in the club, or in persons to whom assignments of such rights have been made in writing by the club. All persons and animals attending these shows grant the club the right to use their likeness and voice in any matter without further consent.

• A penalty of $5.00 will be assessed for any and each loose dog(s) not competing in the course in progress.

• A return check fee of $35.00 will be assessed for any check(s) returned for insufficient funds.

• A penalty of $5.00 /minute over the allotted run time (2 minutes for 600 yard dogs and 1.5 minutes for 300 yard dogs) will be assessed

for any handler/dog that is not leashed and under control (at the discretion of the judge).
