Newsletter Term 4 Week 2
Kinder Orientation - Our first 2020 Kinder Orientation for this Term will be held tomorrow starting at 9:00am. We look forward to our new Kindy students joining us for a morning of craft, stories, games and activities with Mrs Adey and the K/1 class. There will also be an information session tomorrow morning for our new families to attend from 9:15 in the school library.
Harwood Sugar Mill Open Day - Today our Year 5/6 students attended the Harwood Sugar Mill Open Day. We enjoyed a tour of the Mill and discovered the process required to turn that green stuff surrounding our school into yummy sweet sugar. The students found the day interesting and informative and I would like to thank Vivien and all the staff at the mill for making the day a great success.
Let’s Chat Habitat Show - Tomorrow we will be joined by performers from The School Performance Show for an interactive performance titled “Let’s Chat Habitat ”. The show is all about raising awareness of the environment using songs, movement, audience participation and fun.
School Maintenance - Yesterday I met with workmen in regards to some ongoing maintenance concerns around the school. I have been assured that our basketball court will be repainted, marked and new backboards installed, the guttering issues will be repaired and there will be a lot of painting done around the school. These works will be completed this term.
Morning Fitness -
Morning fitness has returned and all students will spend fifteen minutes before recess completing a variety of exercises targeting core strength, coordination and gross motor skills. Our first session yesterday was fantastic. Well done boys and girls. Why not challenge your child to a push up or leg lift challenge and see how you go? Just a thought!
New Playground Working Bee - Our new playground should arrive sometime in November and we will be asking for volunteers for a working bee. This will include land fill, concreting, building the playground and garden works. A date for the working Bee will be finalised in the coming weeks.
Welcome Mr Atkinson - We welcome Mr Thomas Atkinson onto Year 5/6 for the next four weeks. Mr Atkinson is completing his final year in a Bachelor of Education.

Word of the Week - Our word of the week is “appropriate”. The definition of the word appropriate is “suitable or proper in the circumstances”. Here at Chatty we emphasise appropriate behaviour and actions for all students. Have a great week everyone.

Garden News Week 2 - It was very exciting to have the first of our garden produce as part of last Friday’s canteen lunch order! Thank you to Renee and Rosie for making the delicious, fresh salad – stay posted for more menu inclusions from our thriving garden throughout the term. Kinder/One recently planted seeds from the Woolworths promotion and we look forward to turning our garden over soon with these. The school will also receive our Bush Tucker and blueberry plants this week which will have our area looking even better! We are now selling some of the worm ‘wee’ from our worm farm. If you would like some, please send in a small jar with
your child (with a very secure lid) and a couple of dollars. This product is high in nutrients for vegetable or flowering
gardens. Continued thanks go to Mr Skinner and Mrs West for their hard work in keeping everything alive!
Canteen News - This week canteen will be open Wednesday recess and Friday lunch. Lunch on Friday is chicken
pesto pasta. We are very excited to be using produce grown by the students in the new veggie garden.
This week’s volunteers are:
Wednesday- Renee and Jess
Friday: Judy and HELP NEEDED
Please contact Lucy ( 0432 436 427) if you are to help in the canteen this term. A gentle reminder to parents of year 6
students, this will be your last chance! High school students are less excited by seeing their parents in the canteen (don’t
let that stop you though). So don’t miss the opportunity to make some happy memories!
Cheers, Lucy
