CCAT Car & Motorcycle Show Set
CHARDON, OHIO, July 11, 2019 – The Chardon Community Action Team is pleased to announce the return
of our Car and Motorcycle Show. The show, in its 20th year, is held each year to provide a fun event for
families, residents, and car and motorcycle enthusiasts. We would like to thank our Supercharged Sponsors the
Ayreshire, Chardon Square Association, Kuhnle Brothers, Ordnance Technology Service, and 4–Season.
The Car and Motorcycle Show will take place on August 18th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on the Historic
Chardon Square. The popular band “Legacy” will be playing music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s from noon to 4
PM. In addition, to cars and motorcycles on display there will be a bake sale by the FOE Ladies Auxiliary, a
Chines auction, and a 50/50 raffle. We are excited to announce that breakfast and lunch will be served by the
Hunger Squad from their food truck and there will be some sweet treats provided by The i Scream Truck.
"When the Chardon Community Action Team started the Annual Car and Motorcycle Show 20 years ago, we
wanted to create a fun family event on the Chardon Square," said Matt Petersen, Chairman of the Car and
Motorcycle Show. "There is no better way for the whole family to have a good time while helping to support a
group focused on keeping youth drug free.”
Everyone is encouraged to attend and enjoy the classics, modified, hot rod cars and motorcycles, good old-
fashioned food, and many other fun activities for the whole family. All monies raised will be used to support the
mission of CCAT to lower the use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs in our youth through education and
community events for youth and their families. Registrations are still being accepted for cars and motorcycles
until 1 PM the day of the show for all makes and models of cars and motorcycles, which will be professionally

My name is Tami Eggleston, owner of The Party Loft and long-time resident of Chardon. My
husband, Alan Eggleston opened his own independent business 3 years ago under the name of
Lawn Doctor. We could not be more dedicated to the success of our community. Recently, a
very good friend and local business owner had to close her business. Before leaving she posted
a strong message regarding how we independents “bleed” into the community. Strong words
but so very true.
I was so impressed by her message and how clearly it describes the investment we have here:
-Taxes paid through our mortgages and leases
-Jobs provided
-Available services
-Financial donations to Schools, Churches & Charities
Her words and my own experiences spawned an idea that I have been working on for the past
year; namely, an Independent and Locally Owned Business Rally. While in Oregon I
worked for the Forest Products Council. We started a grass roots campaign to educate people
on land use, and the campaign went to five states. I have extensive experience with these
types of campaigns and I feel passionate about the message. We will write the program in such
a manner as it can be handed off to other communities to do the same.
Every day we hear of another corporation either cutting their workforce, closing locations or
filing for protection. Many of these businesses are citing Amazon and/or on-line/ internet sales
as the beginning of their end.
I spoke to a General Manager in the auto sales industry. He expressed concern at the number
of people who come to the showroom to investigate a vehicle with no intention of purchasing it
from them. The salesman will spend multiple visits educating the purchaser only to have them
buy the car from an on-line service.
These on-line providers are not here to build OUR communities or to build OUR schools. They
do not have a vested interest in Geauga County.
What we want to do is make it personal--show the residents that behind these business names
are people who have made sacrifices to be here for them.
The I&LO rally will be a full-day event. The owner of the Maple Leaf Plaza has given us his full
support as this is where the rally will be held. The City of Chardon is on board as well as The
Chardon Chamber and Chardon Tomorrow. We have tentatively chosen August 24th. On this
day you will be given the opportunity to share with the public what you represent with an
emphasis on the background of the company. The goal is information.
Food Trucks from the area will be there representing themselves and selling food: for those
who wish to purchase it. Bands will be scheduled throughout the day to keep the interest alive.
T-shirts will be printed and have a logo that can be reprinted by other communities. They will
be handed out freely. We will do this by collecting monetary donations from the I&LO who are
in a position to offer up assistance.
So the question is “ARE YOU IN”? I have spoken to so many owners who have committed to
the vision and I truly hope that you will also. Your name included in this project will carry a lot
of weight.

Incoming president Matt Emrick is a member of the Leadership Class of 2015 and has served on the LG board
for three years. Matt also co-chairs the Emerald Ball Committee. Matt says, “It is and has been an extreme
privilege to be part of such an important and influential organization here in the best place to live and work in
Ohio. I look forward to the coming year as Leadership Geauga celebrates its 25th anniversary, continues to
grow, and sustains its reputation as the premier community ascension program in our county.”
Re-elected trustees included Mark Halford (The Cleveland Orchestra), Richard Frenchie (The Frenchie
Consulting Group), Andy Bushman (Progressive Insurance), Sharon Roediger (Laudato & Company)
Individuals elected to serve new terms of office included Mary “Bridey” Matheney (Thrasher, Dinsmore and
Dolan), Julie Novak (University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center), Glen Peck (KInetico), Janice Sugarman
(Bainbridge Twp. Fiscal Officer), and Rick Warner (Geauga County Prosecutor's Office).
