AGENDA – PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP 10TH MAY 2010

Nuclear Safety in the context of PLIM & PLEXAnyone involved in plant life management or licence extension will know that safety is absolutely integral to fulfi lling either of these objectives.

This pre-conference workshop will focus on the key aspects of safety in the context of PLIM & PLEX to enable you to effi ciently demonstrate your compliance to the regulators and company stakeholders.

AGENDA – DAY THREE 13TH MAY 2010

Materials Ageing Institute site visitThe Materials Ageing Institute is a utility oriented research centre founded in January 2008 by Electricité de France (EDF), the Tokyo Electric Power Corporation (TEPCO) and the US Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). The key purpose of the MAI is to direct eff orts in research and development towards ageing of materials used in electrical power facilities. This initiative by the world’s biggest nuclear operators is motivated by the conviction that sharing research, experimental results, feedback and scientifi c information will signifi cantly contribute to our understanding of the ageing processes in various materials employed in both nuclear and non-nuclear power plants.

This site visit is a brand new feature of this years PLIM & PLEX agenda and is a must for those concerned with improving their knowledge of ageing materials in nuclear power plants. You will be able to meet with the leading industry experts carrying out the latest research in ageing materials and discover the most recent developments in R&D.

AGENDA – EVENING MASTERCLASS

11TH MAY 2010

Demonstrating the latest research into the modelling of material behavioursThis evening masterclass will be a focussed session for those concerned with the prediction of lifetimes for ageing materials and maintenance planning. This crucial masterclass will be led by experts in the fi eld of ageing predictions and modelling.

Delegates are invited to attend this workshop alongside an informal buff et dinner where you will be able to ask questions directly related to your projects.

Workshop agenda:13.00 Registration

13.30 Understanding the harmonization goals of WENRA and the progress with international regulators The main objectives of WENRA are to develop a common approach to nuclear safety and to be a network of chief nuclear safety regulators in Europe exchanging experience and discussing signifi cant safety issues. The committees have now fi nished their work compiling a set of safety reference levels. The fi rst half of this workshop will highlight exactly what these safety parameters are and the progress that has been made across Europe to meet these amongst individual regulators.
