Principal’s Report Education Week - “Todays schools creating tomorrow’s world”.

Our very first Education Week Biddabah Learning Expo took place today. We were delighted with the phenomenal response from our community who turned up in droves to witness first hand the amazing things we are doing in Future Focused Learning and CAPA. After a scrumptious morning tea, courtesy of our staff, parents were able to engage first hand with students to look at the incredible work being done in areas such as robotics, green screen , garage band, woodcraft, geology claymation and much more. This was followed by a spectacular performance from our dance groups, drumcorp and choir. I am pleased to announce that a whopping $3608.50 was raised to support drought stricken families which will go towards “Buy a bale”.

I was so proud of our dance groups and choir who performed to a packed crowd at Charlestown Square as part of Education week celebrations on Thursday. This was yet another wonderful showcasing of our incredibly talented students under the tutelage of our dedicated staff including Mrs. McEwan, Mrs. Osborn and Mrs. Bradshaw.

And in a week which proved that “Too much excitement is never enough!”, last Wednesday our students were treated to an exhilarating display of dance, storytelling and other cultural gems from our special guest NAIDOC performer Sean Choolburra. Fortunately the school’s insurance was fully paid up as Sean wowed the crowd for a full 90mins with a frenetically fabulous show which included “making fire” (see picture below). Macklin certainly got things ‘cracklin’! (With a little help from Olivia).

Congratulations to Evie F in 2MC who has become the first student in the school (in fact the first student ever!) to collect 40 Buddies and thus reach SUPERSTAR level.

All students who reach Superstar level will be presented with a commemorative gold and enamel Buddy badge at a special assembly in Term 4. Steve Gately (Principal)

Dance News Hunter Dance Festival 2018

We would like to extend a massive congratulations to our students who danced at the Hunter Schools Dance Festival last week. The hard work and dedication that they put into learning their routines this year certainly showed as all dancers shone beautifully on stage. Our teachers and dance teachers were incredibly proud of them all. CONGRATULATIONS DANCERS!

If we don’t have enough volunteers the canteen will be closed and sometimes at short notice. Do you know that if your child has a Canteen Plover reward they can also use it to go towards a lunch order to the value of $2!

Before we know it the 10th of November will be here!!!!!

The committee has been busy planning a fun-filled afternoon for the community to make this our best Fete yet! Amusements and rides are bigger and better than before.

We’ve also had lots of enquiries about stalls and activities. One of our most successful stalls, in the past, has been the Hamper Stall. Its success is largely due to

the generous donations from our Biddabah families. As done previously, we have allocated each Year group with a theme for hampers. We are asking for donations (big or small) that can go towards

making hamper baskets in the lead up to our Twilight Fete.

THEMES ARE LISTED BELOW. WE GREATLY APPRECIATE ALL CONTRIBUTIONS. Kindergarten – Christmas decorations/items Year 1- NEW baby items Year 2 - gardening items Year 3 - beauty/mens’ & womens’ toiletries Year 4 - cooking/BBQ/tea/coffee Year 5 - car/camping/sporting Year 6 - beauty/mens’ & womens’ toiletries

Please send any donations for hampers to your child’s class teacher. If you have any baskets or gift boxes that would be suitable for the hampers, please send them in to Ms Minett.

As part of our fete each Year group takes on the responsibility for running a stall. We ask for parent helpers on the day to assist with the stall associated with your child. A timesheet will be sent home

closer to the date if you wish to nominate a time where you are able to help with the stall. Stalls run by each Year group, their parents & teaching staff on that Year group.

Kindergarten - Lucky Jar – please donate a jar full of goodies! Year 1 - Raffles - help sell tickets Year 2 - Cakes - Please cook something delicious Year 3 - Hampers + Photo Booth Year 4 - Photo Booth + Quality Treasures Year 5 - Chocolate Toss – please donate a BLOCK of chocolate closer to the date. Look out for

specials. Year 6 - Portraits

Quality Treasures Stall – We are now accepting QUALITY, second hand items including pre-loved books, toys (NO stuffed toys),

kitchen items, etc. for the Quality Treasures Stall. Please send any donations to your child’s classroom.

Further details on stalls, activities, ride passes and performances will be forwarded in the coming weeks. We are looking forward to seeing you all at our Fete and thank you for supporting the P&C and

our Biddabah Community.
