Soil Systems - Solvent
It is essential to clean the pipe prior to applying the solvent cement, we recommend that you clean the surface of pipe and fittings with Hunter Solvent Cleaner to remove all traces of dirt and grease to ensure the connection is a secure watertight connection.
Tips & Hints
Strap-On Boss
Allows a retro-fit soil stack waste connection that can be adapted to 32mm, 40mm and 50mm, simply make a hole in the pipe using a 54mm hole cutter. Remove swarf and apply Hunter Solvent Cleaner to back of boss flange and pipe, then simply cement in place. the Strap Boss is uniquely designed to be fixed without the need of a nut and bolt through a simple ratchet action. Provision is made, however, if a nut and bolt fixing is required.
Expansion above highest fixed point taken up through roof.
Fixed point due to Socket Bracket.
Expansion between fixed point and drain connection taken up within drain socket.
If a solvent welded fitting is provided on the ground floor it should be fitted with an Expansion Socket.
Double Branches enable • connections of back to back WC’s and WC floats from opposite directions
Corner Branches, saves • space by enabling direct connection of two WC pans or floats from two directions at 90°
Corner and Double Branch
Hunter Corner and Double Branches have been designed to meet the needs of large commercial installations and houses with multiple bathrooms. With their reinforced construction integrity is ensured. All have a built in internal fall of 2.5° for improved flow characteristics that promote self cleaning, this makes the corner and double branches the ideal solution in many instances.

No need to penetrate the roof structure and no need for additional venting pipes.
How To Install
the valve must be solvent welded in a vertical position to the top of the internal stack above flood level of the highest appliance allowing the soil stack to be terminated internally, however when terminating the stack in loft space, a polystyrene insulating cap (S451) must be used. the valve incorporates a socket for solvent welding to 110mm UPVC pipe to BS 4514.
Using an adaptor, the valve may be connected to cast iron.
Please Note - Care must be taken to prevent contamination of moving parts.

Push-Fit and Solvent
To achieve a secure watertight joint it is important that you prevent the seals from being forced from their housing in the fitting. Therefore it is essential that the pipe is chamfered, free from swarf and suitably lubricated (use only recommended Silicone Lubricant, as other lubricating matter could degrade the quality of the seal).
Tips & Hints* Only available in Black
Jointing Procedures: Soil Push-Fit
Cut pipe square, using a fine tooth saw. Use a pipe cutting template or wrap paper around pipe as guide line.
Remove dirt, dust and file swarf from end of pipe.
Chamfer end of pipe, using medium file or rasp. Standard lengths of pipe are already chamfered.
Lubricate end of pipe. Check that the ring seal is in position within its housing.
Push pipe fully home and mark lightly with pencil.
Spigot fittings will have mark already shown.
Withdraw pipe (10mm). This will allow for expansion. All fittings must be supported by a bracket.

Manufactured in Polypropylene and PVC-u•
Hunter pan connectors incorporate all-purpose tails allowing • simple, watertight installation
Fixed and flexible options•
A Margin For Error
If pipework is misaligned by more than a few millimetres, using a standard connector could lead to leaks. the offset connector allows up to 22 mm difference between centres.
A Simple Adjustment
The adjustable WC Connectors are designed to connect up to five separate pans, using a single common pipe. They suit BS5503 horizontal outlet pans and can accommodate up to +/-2 degrees movement on the joint between the branch and WC connector.
WC ConnectorsA Simple Connection
WC Connectors have all-purpose tails, for easy speedy connection.
there is a Hunter WC Connector for most installations. From a straightforward job to multiple connections and misaligned pans, Hunter WC Connectors take the hard work out of the job.
WCs can be connected directly to a drain using Hunter WC connectors without individual venting, provided that the vertical distance from the crown of the trap to the invert of the drain is no more than 1.5m in accordance with current Building Regulations.
Compatible with the following:

Space Saver
Can save up to 55mm in installations. It is ideal where a traditional seperate WC pan and cistern is being replaced by a close-coupled suite.
Space Saver with Water Boss 90°
Compression waste boss allows direct connection of waste pipe from a wash hand basin and reduces the need for taking extra pipework through the wall.
Adjustable 5°- 30°
This connector is ideal fitting for when you are connecting up to five pans in a row, using one common pipe as the adjustment allows the pan to connect to the gradient of the float system.
WC Connectors
The minimum gradient on the horizontal float should be 1/2° or 9mm/m. The S750 boss adaptor can be solvent-welded onto a side boss of the branch to allow for a 50mm (2”) traditional ventilation pipe if this is necessary.
Hunters adjustable connector allows connection of up to five BS5503 WC pans.

Quickstop
How Quickstop Works
Like all intumescent products Quickstop is activated when exposed to the heat of a fire, the exfoliated graphite material, (which uniquely with QUICKSTOP is part of the formulation used to mould the product), expands to crush the pipe and fill the wall or floor penetration. In doing so smoke and flames are prevented from passing for a period of time, known as the ‘fire rating’.
Typical Specification
Supply Hunter Quickstop (BBA Approved) Intumescent Coupling(s) to provide up to 2 HOURS fire resistance and suit-able for PVCu pipe of 110mm diameter. to be installed in accordance with manufactur-ers guidelines, British Standard codes of practice and local Building Regulations.
Features & Benefits of Quickstop
Aimed at the specification and new build markets the QUICKSTOP coupling is a Fire Protection innovation, being the first product in the UK to provide protection as an integral part of a PVCu pipework system.
The QUICKSTOP coupling concept is based on the principle ‘keep-it-simple’. It is not only a highly effective fire protection solution, but it is the first integrated fire protection product for plastic pipework systems to be approved by BBA.
Engineered and manufactured specifically for PVCu•
No mechanical fixings saves time and money•
Installed using standard solvent jointing methods•
Suitable for wall and floor installations•
‘Fit and Forget’ - No maintenance, No deterioration•

B
Installing Quickstop
Clean pipe and socket with Hunter Solvent Cleaner. Apply Solvent Cement liberally to both pipe and coupling socket.
Join the pipe and coupling together using a twisting action where possible to ensure an even spread of Solvent Cement in the joint.
Ensure that the ends of the QUICKSTOP remains visible in-situ to allow activation in the event of fire. Make good with intumescent mastic.
Design
As the Quickstop coupling becomes an integral part of the drainage system and therefore a fixed point within that system, adequate allowance for thermal expansion/contraction must be made. To prevent stress cracks occurring in pipework it is essential that within 1metre of the penetration (wall or floor) a ring seal/expansion fitting is installed to accommodate such movement.
Pipe should be cut square, chamfered and lubricated before insertion into the ring seal socket. To create an expansion gap, each spigot end must be fully inserted into the socket of the fitting and then withdrawn 10mm. At this point the fitting must be fixed to prevent it moving out of position.

nAcrylic, intumescent or silicone sealant may be applied around the pipe on the topside of the floor slab if a water seal is required. If there is a possibility of pipe movement occurring that will cause cracks in the seal between the pipe and mortar mix (if used), it may be advisable to seal the pipe with acrylic, intumescent or silicone sealant to prevent cold smoke egress. this however is not required for the fire rating to be achieved. If the gap between the pipe and slab is less than 8mm, apply a bead of acrylic, intumescent or silicone sealant approx. 8mm deep in to the gap at the soffit.

Grease ManagementIt is estimated that 30% of all foul water blockages that result in property flooding are actually caused by grease.
Grease interceptors are specially designed traps which are placed in the drainage system close to the sink to intercept and separate the fat, oil and grease (F.O.G) from the rest of the wastewater. Grease interceptors can be highly effective if they are correctly installed, serviced and maintained.
the grease is retained in the trap to be collected for disposal or recycling (typically for Bio Fuels) waste contractors who are able to deal with commercial F.O.G’s are licensed, and must provide a waste transfer note (under the environmental health act 1990, you have a responsibility to keep these notes for up to two years) to meet the requirements of your local environmental health officer.
We recommend that one person is held responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the interceptor and that they keep a written record of service and maintenance on the system, alternatively there are national companies that will manage the cleaning and maintenance of your interceptor.
Tips & Hints
Not for foul water applications
Why Use a Grease Interceptor?
Grease and oil from commercial • kitchens, etc poses a significant problem to sewage systems and treatment facilities.
Congealed grease can clog sewer • pipes, leading to expensive maintenance or even replacement.
local Water Authorities are increasingly • recognising the need to protect their sewerage systems from grease and are requiring installation of Grease Interceptors (now being backed by building regulations).
Influent Control Device (ICD)
Introduces air to the influent, necessary for separation.•
Controls influent flow to ensure maximum efficiency of • Grease Interceptor.
Direct connection to 50mm ID BS EN1566/5255 • waste pipe.
Fully accessible for cleaning.•
Incorporates a mini-food particle trap.•
Using the ICD increases separation efficiency by over 40%.•
The addition of air to the influent conjunction with the physical regulation of the flow (1.6 only) is vital to the effective operation of any grease interceptor, increasing efficiency by approximately 40%.
Endura
It is recommended in addition to its regular servicing schedule, the interceptor should be fully dismantled and cleaned thoroughly on a six monthly basis.

Endura Case Study
McDonalds, Newcastle-under-Lyme
A McDonalds restaurant in Newcastle-under-lyme updated its grease management system and installed an Endura that has proved ideal for even this demanding environment. One of the features of the Endura, which made it so attractive to the team at McDonalds, was its ease of installation and simplicity of operation. It can be installed underground, semi-recessed or, as in this case, above ground. It is considerably lighter and less bulky than alternative systems, so installation causes minimum disruption to the running of the kitchen since it is so quick and simple for one man to in-stall and requires minimal remedial works. (the management team has set up a service programme to ensure that the interceptor continues to operate efficiently with a general service every week and a planned quarterly overhaul by a visiting engineer.)McDonalds Franchisee Eddie Leligdowicz is enthusiastic about the Endura’s qualities. “What appealed to me initially was that the Endura is a doddle to fit and maintain. I had looked around the market at various options but the Endura stood out to me because it really is so simple yet effective,” he comments. “The unit has been running very effectively for months now and I have every confidence that it will continue to operate well for a long time to come. Last, but not least, the Endura represents excellent value for money and I will be recommending it to other McDonalds franchisees in the future.”
Why Choose Endura?
the Endura Grease Interceptor is the only moulded product available in the UK, holding significant advantages over competitor systems. External reinforcing ribs on the single piece moulded tank provide strength and rigidity and provides a high quality, cost-effective solution to grease separation offering efficient protection for drainage systems in domestic and commercial hot food premises.
the Endura Grease Interceptor is one of the most cost effective solutions to grease management. The patent pending baffle design of the interceptor has been designed to maximise grease retention. Regular cleaning is required for efficient running of the system.
the cover is moulded in nylon reinforced polypropylene increasing both load bearing capabilities and impact resistance. With a design load of 200kg the cover is suitable for use in normal pedestrian areas, supplied as standard with a non-skid surface.
Engineered with a 1.6L/sec or 3.2L/sec flow rate with removable baffles for ease of maintenance, this highly efficient solution is suitable for most small to medium applications. Full sizing details available on request.

to save on space Endura can be installed below ground with the lid flush to the finished floor level.
Tips & Hints
the Hunter Endura Grease Interceptor should be installed as close as is practical to the fixture(s) being served and can be set on, partially recessed or fully recessed into the floor. Note that the Endura Grease Interceptor is NOT recommended for above ground, external installation unless adequate protection from freezing is made.
Sufficient clearance around the cover area should be anticipated to allow for routine maintenance, including the removal of accumulated grease. It is preferable that the Endura be located as close as possible to the appliances being served, up to a maximum of 8 metres from the last appliance. this precaution will prevent the waste pipes becoming clogged with congealed grease that could begin to solidify before reaching the Grease Interceptor.
Endura Installation
Do Not Install Endura in the waste line from appliances such as waste disposal units. this type of unit must bypass the interceptor as rapid accumulation of solid matter will greatly reduce the interceptor’s efficiency preventing operation in compliance with the rated capacity.

All Grease Interceptors are sized according to their maximum flow rate - this is measured in litres per second. (l/sec) the Endura Grease Interceptor is available in two sizes. 1.6L/sec and 3.2L/sec.
How do you know which size to install?
BS EN 1825 - 2:2002 offers several methods of sizing, but for ease we recommend you use the measurement or calculation method.
Measurement Method
A) Measure the sink left to right (cm)
B) Measure the sink front to back (cm)
C) Measure the depth of water (cm)
to work out total number of litres in the sink multiply the answers as shown below:-
Answer A x Answer B x Answer C = D Divide Answer D by 1000 = Sink Capacity in litres
Now you need to to time how long the sink takes to empty (in seconds):-
Divide the Sink Capacity in litres by the time sink took to empty = Flow rate required.
If the flow rate is under 1.6L/sec, then a DSG16 is suitable. If the flow rate is between 1.6 - 3.2 L/sec then a DSG32 is suitable.
Interceptor Sizing
Additional Note For two or more sinks, add the capacity figures together. When timing their discharge, ensure you pull the plugs at exactly the same time, to ensure accurate flow measurement. Dishwashers flow rate should be identified, however as a general rule of thumb, you can assume it will be equal to an additional sink.
A
B
C
Calculation Method
The maximum flow rate can be calculated by the following equation.
Q = The maximum flow (l/sec)
M = No. meals produced in a day
VF = A scaling factor (See table)
t = Daily Kitchen operational duration (Hours)

the legal requirements relating to Grease Management
UK Building Regulations – Part H – 2002 states: “Drainage serving kitchens in commercial hot food premises should be fitted a grease separator complying with BS EN 1825-1:2004 and designed in accordance with BS EN 1825-2:2002 or other effective means of grease removal”.
Under the Food Safety Act 1990. Local authorities are authorised to inspect problems arising from the effect of F.O.G (Fats, Oil and Grease) on drains, resulting in a failure to comply, could result in prosecution or an emergency prohibition order preventing trading from the premises.
there is legislative power in section 111 of the Water Industry Act 1991 to take action against anyone that discharges any matter li-able to cause damage to the sewerage system or to interfere with the free flow of its contents, this can include F.O.G’s.
Endura
MaintenanceAs with all non-mechanical grease separators, the maintenance although essential to their effective operation, is considered an onerous and unpleasant task due to both the frequency of cleaning and removal of accumulate grease.
The use of a system such as the Endura BioPak significantly reduces the frequency of interceptor/separator servicing by the introduction of a grease digesting product (in this case Bio-G) and means that a significant amount of the grease that would normally accumulate is broken down and ‘digested’. Dosing of the interceptor with Bio-G not only reduces the service frequency of the unit, but in addition protects the drainage system as a whole from grease accumulation and the commonly resulting blockage.
