‘HOMOEOPATHIC
PULSE’
WHAT IS THE ‘PLUSSING METHOD’Plussing Method consists of dissolving globules
of the remedy in eleven teaspoons of water.
The patient sips one teaspoon as each dose.
Between each dose, the water is shaken
thoroughly. The patient takes ten
teaspoonsful and reserves the last teaspoon
for the next day. The next day, ten teaspoons
full of freshwater are added to the original
mixture ( but not any fresh medicine) and the
process is repeated. The procedure
continues for seven days -- after which the
remedy is changed and the same procedure
is repeated with the new medicine.

PLUSSING METHOD:IS IT A NEW DISCOVERY??
IT IS IN FACT A MODIFICATION OF HAHNEMANN’S INSTRUCTIONS
AS LAID DOWN IN HIS WORK ON CHRONIC DISEASES &
ORGANON
OF MEDICINE.
HAHNEMANN: A MULTIFACETED
MAN OF HUMANISTIC MEDICINE
‘Hahnemann was so far ahead of his
time that his teaching, in its higher
phases, could not be fully
understood until science in its slower
advance had elucidated and
corroborated the facts upon which he
based it’
…………Stuart Close in his work
The Genius of Homeopathy
In light of his experience,
Hahnemann suggested two
modifications in the mode of
administration of centesimal scale
of potencies :
ADMINISTRATION of SIMILIMUM IN LIQUID FORM
CHANGING DEGREE OF DYNAMISATION WITH EACH DOSE ADMINISTERED TO THE
PATIENT
need to administer medicine in liquid form
‘Such a globule, placed dry upon the tongue, is
one of the smallest doses for a moderate
recent case of illness. Here but few nerves
are touched by the medicine. A similar
globule, crushed with some sugar of milk and
dissolved in a good deal of water and stirred
well before every administration will produce
a far more powerful medicine for the use of
several days. Every dose, no matter how
minute, touches, on the contrary, manynerves.’ § 272 (Sixth Edition)
ADMINISTRATION IN LIQUID FORM
“Experience has shown me that it ismost useful in disease of anymagnitude to give to the patients thepowerful homoeopathic pellet orpellets only in solution and thissolution in divided doses……….
Preface to the 3rd volume of ‘The ChronicDiseases - Their Peculiar Nature andTheir Homoeopathic Cure’
need to change degree of dynamisation with each dose
‘It is impractical to repeat the same unchanged dose of aremedy once, not to mention its frequent repetition (andat short intervals in order not to delay the cure). The vitalprinciple does not accept such unchanged doses withoutresistance, that is, without other symptoms of themedicine to manifest themselves than those similar to thedisease to be cured, because the former dose has alreadyaccomplished the expected change in the vital principleand a second dynamically wholly similar, unchangeddose of the same medicine no longer finds, therefore, thesame conditions of the vital force………...
§ 247 (Sixth Edition)
§ 247 (Sixth Edition) of organon of medicine
……….The patient may indeed be made sick inanother way by receiving other such unchangeddoses, even sicker than he was, for now only thosesymptoms of the given remedy remain activewhich were not homœopathic to the originaldisease, hence no step towards cure can follow, only a true aggravation of the condition of thepatient. But if the succeeding dose is changedslightly every time, namely potentized somewhathigher (§§ 269-270) then the vital principle maybe altered without difficulty by the same medicine(the sensation of natural disease diminishing) andthus the cure brought nearer.
EVOLUTION OF PLUSSING METHOD
These two principles of posology(administration of similimum in liquidform and changing degree ofdynamisation with each dose) served asbasis for evolution of PLUSSINGMETHOD OF REMEDYADMINISTRATION.
HAHNEMANN IN HIS WORK ON CHRONIC DISEASES WROTE
‘I have, therefore, lately found the followingmode of administration preferable with carefulpatients. From a mixture of about fivetablespoonfuls of pure water and fivetablespoonfuls of French brandy -which is kepton hand in a bottle, 200, 300 or 400 drops(according as the solution is to be weaker orstronger) are dropped into a little vial, whichmay be half-filled with it, and in which themedicinal powder or the pellet or pellets ofthe medicine have been placed………
HAHNEMANN IN HIS WORK ON CHRONIC DISEASES WROTE
………This vial is stoppered and shaken until themedicine is dissolved. From this solution one, two, three or several drops, according to theirritability and the vital force of the patient, aredropped into a cup, containing a spoonful ofwater; this is then well stirred and given to thepatient, and where more especial care isnecessary, only the half of it may be given; half aspoonful of this mixture may also well be usedfor the above mentioned external rubbing…..
HAHNEMANN IN HIS WORK ON CHRONIC DISEASES WROTE:
…….On days, when only the latter isadministered, as also when it is takeninternally, the little vial containing thedrops must every time be briskly shakenfive or six times; so also the drop ordrops of medicine with the tablespoonfulof water must be well stirred in the cup.
PLUSSING METHOD: instructions for administration
Pour globules of indicted medicine and dissolve these
in eleven teaspoons of spring water.
Before each dose gently stir the water. Take ten
teaspoonful and reserve the last teaspoon for the next
day.
Next day add ten teaspoons of fresh spring water to the
original mixture (but add no fresh granules) and repeat
the process above.
Repeat this procedure for seven days after which start
the procedure from the beginning again.
If the treatment is changed, discard any remaining
medicine and repeat the process with the new remedy.
PLUSSING METHOD OF
REMEDY ADMINISTRATION
This procedure, which has it's roots in
Hahnemann's early disciples, then
passed on to homeopaths worldwide --
boasts a number of variations. But
essentially it involves diluting a given
remedy in water and taking a spoonful
of it at regular intervals, stirring before
every dose (this last is done in order
slightly to change the potency or
vibration of the medicine).
ADVANTAGES OF PLUSSING METHOD
Plussing not only minimizes further the
risk of aggravation but also ensures a
medicine's more powerful impact.
Several physicians have used this
method of remedy administration
with wonderful success in their
clinical practise.
