“I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in condence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty I will endeavor to aid the physician and his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.”- Florence Nightingale
As a nursing instructor I saw a great need for nursing programs that could provide students with a superior educationand with instructors that were committed to producing highlyqualied and caring graduates. I believe that learning is an ongoing experience throughout life and the study of Nursing should be an interactive process between the student and the instructor. This belief is the foundation of our school. We believe that healthcare provides a vital service to individuals, families, and society. The vocational Nurse, Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, and IV Therapy Aide are integral components of the health care team and PMCI’s training. Our philosophy acknowledges that individuals have intrinsic dignity and self-worth and are complex beings with specic physical and diverse social, cultural and spiritual needs. Each individual, therefore, has the right to seek an optimal level of well-being that includes attention to physical, psychological, spiritual, cultural, and social needs. Nursing is a profession based on principles taken from the biological, physical, and behavioral sciences. Nursing care is an art that maintains human dignity and is based upon genuine concern, compassion, and caring. The profession is based on timeless principles andfundamental ethical standards that require personal integrity and professional accountability. It is the Nursing Director’s responsibility to establish and uphold standards of quality education. The Nursing faculty shares in this commitment as they carry out the responsibilities to plan, organize, facilitate, supervise, and evaluate learning experiences. The student is an active participant in the educational process and is responsible for his/her own learningprogress while demonstrating professional behavior and growth. The nursing faculty collectively recognizes the dignity and worth of individuals and believes that nursing education should be available to all who are capable of achieving the required competencies and expectations. Local RN Bridge Programs
National RN Bridge Programs
Nursing schools in California allow licensed vocational nurses to become registered nurses with just one to two years of additional training. Now, through the use of LVN to RN bridge programs most LVNs can become registered nurses in two to three years. Today it is difcult to get accepted into a nursing program. With prerequisites and the waiting lists, it takes an average student up to six years to become a registered nurse with an associate’s degree. Most vocational nursing programs are less difcult to get into and only take 12 to 16 months to complete. When graduates successfully take the NCLEX PN and become licensed nurses, they can apply to one of many RN bridge programs offered at California colleges and other out of state programs.
