Eligibility Criteria : Category 1Education :

• Global equivalent university degree.

• 35 contact hours from R.E.P ( registered education provider)

Experience :

• Minimum 4500 hours of project management experience

• At least 3 years of project management experience within last 8yrs ( non overlapping project experience)

Certification process:

• PMP credential is valid for 3 years.

• PMI membership for one year is $129.

• Application can be submitted online at pmi.org.

• Need to accumulate 60 PDU’s to maintain PMP certification over a period of 3years.

• Some applications are randomly selected for audit.

PMP Examination:• 200 multiple choice questions with 4 options.

• Out of 200 questions , 25 questions are considered pre-test questions (not scored).

• One point for every right questions. No penalty for wrong answers.

• Covers all 10 knowledge areas and 5 process groups.

• Result will be shown immediately after exam. PMI grades on each of the 5 process groups and assigns grading of Proficient, moderately proficient and below proficient.

What is the role of Project Manager?

• The person assigned by the performing organization to achieve the project objectives

• PM need to have Knowledge on project management, skills like leadership, team building, motivational skills, Communication, Decision making skills, conflict management.

Process Groups• Initiating Process Group:

o Occurs at beginning of the project and at the beginning of each phase for large projects

o Processes performed to define a new project or a new phase of an existing project by obtaining authorization to start the project or phase

• Planning Process Group:o The processes required to establish the scope of the project, define the

objectives, ando Define the course of action required to attain the objectives that the project

was undertaken (tracked through project management plan)• Executing Process Group:

o The processes performed to complete the work defined in the project management plan to satisfy the project specifications

• Monitoring and Controlling Process Group:o The Processes required to track, review and regulate the progress and

performance of the projecto Identify any areas in which changes to the plan are required and initiate the

corresponding changes• Closing Process Group:

o Processes performed to finalize all activities across all process groups for formally close the project or phase or contractual obligations
