Hello Chris. As you know, the court have sat, the jury have found Mr Baldwin guilty on all charges and he is now serving his sentence. As is his right, he has appealed the matter. It will be some time (DPP suggested 6 months) before any outcome to this appeal will be known. If a 12 man jury found him guilty on all counts, it seems unlikely that an appeal, will favour his case much. Like most others I imagine, fLc land I felt that once the courts had passed sentence, this would be the end of the matter and we could all get on with life. Not so. The vvounds caused by this crime run very deep and remain painful. Flashbacks, painful memories and many mixed feelings are triggered by all sorts of things for our son, and to a much lesser extent ourselves. God has been real good but healing and restoration to Him will take time.

One component of the process you may be able to assist with is the deafening silence from the AOG. This crime was carried out under the noses of the leadership at the titne (not yourself) despite them having been approached by conce1ned congregation members. I see this as a significant lack of duty of care from leadership both here at the time as well as those who supported them. In the case of Mr Baldwin, the court has confirmed his role. What is the church's po~ition in this matter? Are the leadership concerned about the victim at all? Have they ducked for cover, hoping this will go away? A young man, actively involved in their church, has been seriously wounded through all of this. If we were to take a look at our military response to a troop's wounding, considerable resources and energy are put in to their recovery and treatment. This system has not always been perfect and difficult cases

have been handled poorly in the past, but tradition has always been to look after the wounded. (even enemy wounded!) What about our church? Have AOG any processes in place to address these matters, or do they just duck for cover and hope it will go away? We are not holding you accountable for what has happened at all. This crime was perpetrated before you came here. We would however ask if you may be able to address this conce1n to wherever some responsibility will be taken. More than a month has passed since the sentencing and not a word has been heard from AOG. This is poor form indeed. I personally would have expected leadership at the highest level of a caring organisation should have been quite aware of the case as it unfolded and, at the very least, be in contact with the victim shortly after the trials conclusion, offering whatever care and support they could. This lad, and many others around him, friends, family and more, have been deeply hurt by this whole sorry tu1n of events, yet it seems AOG have no response. Can I leave this with you to pass up the line? Systems must surely be in place for the appropriate handling of such matters. If they are not, then they should be. What would Jesus do? Thank you. ~FLc I (forfLA I and his confused brothers.) REDACTED
