Travelling at Night• Where possible, always travel with a group you know well.
• Stick to well-lit areas.
• Be alert at all times.
Travelling Alone• No matter what time of day, if you’re travelling alone, be alert to your surrounds.
• Do not play with any electronics (e.g. mobile phone) as they provide distractions.
• Stick to well-frequented places, and avoid dead-ends and poorly lit areas.
Money and Valuables• Always keep your money and any valuables in a safe location eg: zipped bag or backpack.
• Avoid carrying large sums of money

OSHC - Overseas Student Health CoverOSHC provides health insurance to all international students, as required by your visa. This does not include dental, optical or physiotherapy. Additional insurance must be purchased for these services.

Joining the Library for Free You will need to show your student ID, proof of your current address and photo ID for proof of signature. If you are under 18 years of age, parents or homestay parents must provide their ID.

Working In AustraliaInternational students can work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight when your course is in session and unlimited hours when your course is not in session. Note: You cannot undertake work until you have started your course in Australia. Please consult your school prior to making arrangement in relation to part-time work. There are further restrictions depending on your age.
To work in Australia you need to obtain a Tax File Number (TFN). For information on how to obtain TFN visit www.ato.gov.au or call 132 861.
