Before You Begin:-Make sure the audio/sound settings for your computer are correct.
-Click on the Apple -> Select System Preferences -> Select Sound - > Select Input
-If using the mic inside your computer, make sure “Internal Microphone” is highlighted. If using an external mic, make sure “Line In” is highlighted.
-Adjust Input Volume as needed.

Creating a Podcast
There are several ways to accomplish creating a podcast, but the easiest method is through GarageBand. Let’s go through the steps of creating a simple podcast through this program.
Click on this symbol on your
computer If you don’t see this, go
to Applications and search.

Open GarageBand, Select Podcast

Once you’ve selected “Podcast”, GarageBand will prompt you to name the file. Create a name and proceed to the main panel for GarageBand.

Let’s Practice! Begin recording.
-Choose a podcast track to record and hit the red record button at the bottom of the panel.
-Start reading your scripted excerpt. Make sure your mouth is facing your computer so the internal mic picks up your voice.
-When you are done reading, hit the blue play button to stop.
-Using your headphones, playback your podcast to hear the recorded audio.

Unscripted Podcasting
•Please form a group of three. •Create a new podcast segment in GarageBand.
•Arrange yourselves around the computer that will be recording.
•Create a two minute podcast.•Listen to the podcast as you playback the audio you just recorded.
•Prompt: What are your student pet peeves?

Publishing Podcasts
• -Click “Share”.•Select “Export Podcast to Disk”.•Adjust settings as necessary. Make sure
you are exporting as an MP3 file.•Click Export, and choose where your file
will be saved. •When completed, locate your file and
double-click to hear it played in iTunes.
