Use these 32 task cards to help your students identify first and third person point of view. Most of the cards are pretty straightforward, but there are a few that require careful reading (they will trip up kids who just read the first sentence). These task cards are perfect for test prep and will work well at literacy centers, stations, for partner work, or with the whole class using a game like Scoot.

Print this set out in color. For black and white printing, please use the included black line version. If you are printing in black 5and white, consider printing on colored paper. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring. A Cover Card to label your container or baggie is also included.

For older students, Point of View Task Cards for grades 5-7 (first person, third person - limited and third person - omniscient) are also available at my store.

An answer sheet is included for students to record their answers. They can also check their answers on the included answer key. In addition, you will find five Challenge Cards which can be used to extend the activity.

These cards support the following Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.3.6 Distinguish their own point of view from that of the narrator or those of the characters.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.4.6 Compare and contrast the point of view from which different stories are narrated, including the

difference between first- and third-person narrations.

Jamie was excited becausetoday was the day that his family was going to the amusement park. Last year he had not been tall enough to ride the rollercoaster, but he had grown two whole inches since then. This time, he would get to ride with his big brother and sister!

My dad and I have been working on a model rocket together. We followed the instructions very carefully. When the rocket was done, we painted it blue and green. Tomorrow we will launch it at the park!

Everyone was tired of being in the car. They had been driving all day and still had a couple hours to go. The kids were whining and Dad was getting grumpy. When mom suggested they stop for ice cream, everyone thought it was a great idea.

I like to spend time in my tree house. It is in an oak tree in our backyard. Sometimes I bring a snack up there with me and eat it while I am reading a book. Other times, I invite my best friend Robbie to come with me and we play cards or DS Games.
