FROM THE CRI TJC'S BOX : Why Jon't we h,l\'C ushers anJ usherettes who would see that sea ts are reserved when necessary, who wou ld p re, cnt peop le from sav ing five choice seats for friends whom they are expecting in ten minutes, and who would maint:tin some order in what is supposed to be a co ll ege auditorium, not a hig h school gymnasium? IN T HE AUDJENCE: From the genera l concensus of opinion and judging by the ·"stoncli ng room only" , it can be said that UNCLE TOM"S CABIN made a hit with everyone. And acco rding to my observations, not only the Trai n ing School children fe lt the emotion of the p lay. Did you not ice the anxi ety written on the faces of the co ll ege st udents when LJTTLE EV A was about to cl ie ?' And did you hear members of the facu lty hi ssing at SIMON LEGREE? BACKSTAGE: l was just in time, afte r having pushed my way through ;"' the milling crowd , to see th e puppets before they were put in to separate bags and put to bed in a large suitcase, to sleep until the next pe rfo rma nce. All of them a re carved out of wood, th at is, all except LJTTLE EVA who is · done in plastic. The amazing thing about th e puppets is the a lmost l ife-like size which they seem to atta in on the stage, when actually they a re so small. That is due, l am told , to the fact that they a re so expe rtly proportioned . One of the membe rs of this co mpany of puppeteers has wo rked under TONY SARG. LbBBY CHATTER : overheard that the wo rkshop plays (one-acts ) will be under production soon, and that the three-act p lay will not see the foot lights ' ti ll next semester.Saw Miss Carlsten backstage last week-Maybe .there's going to be a puppeteer's club and maybe they'll put on so me puppet shows for all of us- There's to be a pep assembly from 11 :30 to 12 :00 on next Thursday.
