Save Selection As

• File, Save Selection As allows you to save selected entities to a Pointwise Project (.pw) file.

• Any supporting entities will also be written to the project file regardless of selection, layer status, and show/hide status.

6

Save/Open Environment

• File, Save Environment lets you save your Pointwise environment data to a .pw file.

• File, Open Environment lets you load the environment of any .pw file while excluding grid and database entities.

• Data included in the Pointwise environment:– All tolerances (Model Size, Node, Connector, Grid Point)

– All settings defined in the Defaults panel.

– Layers description and associated layer numbers

– View information (Current view, Saved Views, View Type, light source type and direction, Show Type settings)

– Saved Examine cuts

– Grid type (Structured, Unstructured)

– T-Rex Boundary Conditions

– CAE information (CAE Solver, CAE Dimension, CAE Attributes, Boundary and Volume Conditions, Mirror Plane settings)

7

Other New I/O

• STL multi-mesh is now supported for import and export, ASCII and binary.– Export of domains preserves domain topology and naming.

– Export of unstructured blocks preserves face topology and applies default naming using the block name as a basename.

– Export of structured blocks preserves face topology and applies default naming using the block name as a basename.

• PLOT3D attributes now fully supported– Single and mult-block

– IBLANK

– 1D and 2D

8

Improved Layer Assignment

• The layer assignment process has been updated

• Assignment task moved to the top of Layers tab

• Option added to include parent entities when changing layer assignment

• Use Apply command to save assignment changes

9

Enhanced Connector Projection

• Edit, Project now has two options for connector projection:– Project Points

– Project Shape

• Project Points– The grid points are projected

onto the target database surfaces.

– A control point is stored for each projected grid point on the surface.

– The distribution of grid points for the projected connector is stored discretely in memory as a General distribution function.

10

Enhanced Connector Projection

• Project Shape– Only the connector shape is

projected onto the target database surfaces.

– The dimension and distribution of the original connector are maintained throughout the projection.

11

Database Point Projection

Database points can now be projected onto database surfaces.

12

Improved Normals in Orient

Normals are now rendered for structured domains in Orient.

13

T-Rex Attributes Table and Defaults

• A new attributes table listing adjacent grid data for match BCs has been added to Solve on the T-Rex tab.

• Defaults can now be set for T-Rex attributes.

14

Drawing Guide• Show, Show Drawing Guide controls

whether a drawing guide overlay is shown in the Display window.

• Drawing Guide size (density), color, and transparency can be set in Edit, Preferences.
