Enhance crosswalk design and additional areas for public realm activation that build on the vibrancy of the neighborhood commercial corridor. GOALS 3 3 3 Increase safety for children to cross Frank Norris Street between Redding Elementary School and the adjacent playground. Delineate the street via colorful crosswalk and stamped asphalt paving. Couple permanent improvements with removable improvements that will be determined through future collaborations with Redding School and the Pavement to Parks program. GOALS 3 3 Expand corner sidewalk space on select side streets to decrease pedestrian crossing distance. Reduce conflicts between turning vehicles and people walking and bicycling by adding side street bulbs. GOALS 3 3 Add a green bike lane in the southbound direction to provide a designated space for bicyclists. Add green shared lane markings in the northbound direction to help guide bicyclists and alert drivers to expect people on bikes. Implement a part-time northbound bike lane on weekday mornings by restricting parking on the east side of the street from 7am - 10am. GOALS 3 3 Create a raised “cycle track” protected bikeway in the northbound direction so that people have a safe, inviting place to bicycle. Install a buffered bike lane in the southbound direction to increase the separation between moving vehicles and people on bicycles. Reduce conflicts between turning vehicles and people walking an bicycling at key locations by adding designated turning lanes or restricting left turns. Add corner extensions (bulb outs) to calm traffic, shorten the crossing distance, and provide additional space for pedestrians to gather.

Couple permanent improvements with removable improvements that will be determined through future collaborations with Redding School and the Pavement to Parks program.

Expand corner sidewalk space on select side streets to decrease pedestrian crossing distance.
