Pollution in our Community
By: Mary
These are some photos I took in my neighborhood . This trash is polluting the habitats that many animals may
live in.
These are some photos I took near the marsh. This can pollute and make
many animals, birds, and other organisms sick or make them die if
they eat it.
This is the marsh in my neighborhood . This pollution can hurt animals like sea turtles. Why? Because they will think that plastic is a jellyfish and try to eat it . Some animals don’t understand what things are. Trash in the marsh can end up in the ocean.
This bucket was hanging in the water. Things can happen just because of this bucket because it was a paint bucket and it had chemicals and toxins inside. Their residue can pollute the water.
Styrofoam does not breakdown easy in the environment so this piece of trash will stay here for a great period of time.
These objects were in my own backyard from the trampoline and my family. Our trampoline is old and is falling apart so we did not pollute on purpose. The fruit snack package blew in from the trash.
I think that people do not mean to pollute, but some times they do. Sometimes they throw their trash out instead of recycling or finding a trash can. Sometimes the wind or weather could accidentally pollute by moving trash around from the place where it was put. Reducing, reusing, and recycling our trash can help prevent this from happening in our community.
