have some furniture available with chrome-plated steel.

Chrome plated fasteners are used widely in salt water

marine industries. These fasteners are proven to be much

more resistant to corrosion than typical grades of stain-

less steel. Each page with this icon has furniture with

Chrome plated fasteners.

Will I get

MILDEW AND FUNGUS on my furniture?

The answer is yes. Mildew and fungus are by-products of nature. Wherever you have a combination of shade and mois-ture you are likely to have mildew or fungus form on anything. The good news is that it is not harmful to poly furniture and usually can be cleaned by the following methods.

-Do not clean your poly furniture with a scrub pad (for example, Scotch Brite Pads.) Use a mildcleaning agent that is approved for use on plastics such as our new Mildew Stain Remover, (white fur-niture only). Or products such as Mean Green, 409 Cleaner, or any of the new environmentally safenatural products. Household bleach diluted with water and a little dish detergent is a good and effec-tive way to remove mold and most fungus.-Always use a soft cloth when cleaning your poly furniture and rinse well. If you have a largeamount of poly to clean, consider using a pressure washer with water and a small amount of householdbleach added to the pressure washer tank. Also rinse thoroughly with water. Keep pressure under2,000 PSI. Do not direct the spray close to the furniture. Tar or lawn mower tire marks and tree sapcan be cleaned off with mineral spirits or a similar product. The removal of tree sap requires a littlemore effort, or as us old-timers say, a lot of elbow grease.-How about those small black dots on my fence or poly furniture? They are just fly dirt, right?Maybe..but most likely they are a fungus spore more commonly called shotgun spores, or if you preferthe scientific name, Sphaerobolus Stellatus. These fungus spores live in mulch and decaying matter. Ifyou use your fingernail and scratch the black dot it will reveal a reddish dot.-How do you remove these spores? Well, it’s not easy. The longer the fungus is on your railing or fur-niture the harder it is to remove. These spores can only be removed with a mild soap solution and a lotof elbow grease. When you first see these dots, remove them immediately. The best way to preventthese spores from forming is to use synthetic or non-wood fiber mulch.

There are many articles written about this fungus. You will find that the best solution to the fungusproblem is prevention. For further information search the internet for artillery or shotgun fungus.

Easy To Care ForOur Poly Furniture is not affected by most

corrosive substances, and will not promote

bacterial growth. To maintain the beauty

of your furniture, simply clean it regularly

with non-abrasive soap and water or our new

cleaner. While most colors need to be cleaned

a few times per year, certain

colors such as white (but not limited to this color) need to be cleaned more frequently

in order to maintain its original beauty. In extreme situations and with colors such as

white, spray the furniture thoroughly with a nonabrasive cleaner then scrub the furni-

ture using a soft bristle brush and rinse off with warm, clean water. If needed, spray

the furniture with nonabrasive cleaner and wash it using a high pressure washer. Do

not place the tip of your pressure washer closer than 8” to 10” from the furniture or it

will tear into the furniture.

Do not place flower pots or any items on furniture that will leave stains. Do not place

hot items directly onto the furniture to avoid melting.
