Asbestos Removal from the School Residence The department is planning to remove the asbestos from the school residence prior to it being demolished. This is planned to take place in the second week of the school holidays. (Mon 15 th to Fri 19 th July). For safety reasons please keep away from this area during this time. Welcome to this newsletter. Hard to believe we are half way through the school year already. Thank you to everyone who has helped at the school throughout the semester. It is very much appreciated and without your assistance we would not be able to provide so many opportunities to our students. Enjoy your break, freshen up and Term 3 starts for students on Tuesday 23rd July. Asbestos Removal from the School Residence The department is planning to remove the asbestos from the school residence prior to it being demolished. 2020 Enrolments Pomona School is required to enter their anticipated enrolments for 2020 by the 7th August. If you have a child wishing to enrol at Pomona Public School in Kindergarten next year, a child(ren) who may be leaving our school or know of any children who want to enrol in grades 1-6 could you please let the school know ASAP. Don’t assume we know, come and let us know. Murray Darling / Barrier Cross Country Results Well done to all of our cross country representatives. Thank you to all students for giving their best efforts. At a Murray Darling level, congratulations to Darcy Pritchard for placing 1st in the 8/9-year-old boys and to Izzy Newton who placed 3rd in the 10-year-old girls. At a Barrier level Darcy Pritchard placed 2nd in the 8/9-year-old boys and is entitled to compete at the State Cross Country carnival which will be held at Eastern Creek, Sydney on July 26. Please remember to return your small schools Murray / Darling shirt.

Archery Lessons We now have some expect archers in the school after having archery lessons last week. Check out the bullseye by Matilda. Mildura Eisteddfod Congratulations to all our students who competed at the Mildura Eisteddfod last Monday. Staff and parents were very proud of your efforts.

NAIDOC Day Today we celebrated NAIDOC Day with students from Palinyewah. Thanks again to May Crombie and her helpers who organised activities to celebrate indigenous culture with our students. School Reports and Interviews School reports were sent home with your child yesterday. If you haven’t received it, please check your child’s school bag. A reminder that Parent Teacher Interviews will take place on Tuesday 2nd July. Please be punctual to allow time for discussion and teachers to meet appointment times. YWCA – Child Protection Last week a team of staff from Y-PEP spent time with students completing workshops with activities based around child protection. After the visit Pomona staff will complete some follow up activities based on Y-PEP’s visit.

K-2 Class: Hello Everyone, School reports went home yesterday and I look forward to discussing your child’s progress for the first semester next week. There have been several extracurricular activities that the students have enjoyed participating in over the last week. We had the Y-Pep program which is based on child protection. Archery was a bit hit with all the students. Lastly was our participation in the Mildura Eisteddfod. Have a great holiday everyone and stay safe Year 3-6: Students in Grades 3-6 have had a very productive semester. I would like to thank students for their positive efforts and attitudes towards their school work so far this year. I also am looking forward to catching up with parents next week at interviews and sharing student achievements with you. Students have put in a lot of time preparing for their interview with you and are excited to be discussing their education with you. Principal’s Award Each Friday during our whole school assembly Mr Mac announces a Principal’s Award for a student that has been following our 3 school values ‘Respect’, ‘Learning’ and ‘Safety’. This week’s principal’s award is Mia Lyall.

Disco A school disco will take place on Tuesday 2nd July from 5:30 -7:00pm. It will be held in the senior room. The theme for the disco is ‘Rock n Roll’. Cost is $5. Please bring a plate of food to share. Thanks to Mrs Forster and parents for organising the disco for students.

Casual Dress Day The last day of term (Friday 5th July) will be a casual dress day. The theme is footy/netball colours of your favourite team. PBL News (Positive Behaviour for Learning) Our PBL focus has been taking a close look at each of the Universal Statements and discussing how they impact on our daily lives. The first one we looked at was ‘To Show RESPECT we are KIND’ We defined what kindness was and came up with how it feels when people are kind.

Are you looking for something to do in the school holidays? Something your whole family will enjoy? Sunraysia Gang Show is the thing for you. Sunraysia Gang Show is a variety show put on by 60 Scouts and Guides from around Sunraysia. This year the Gang are performing 7 shows in their 43rd annual production ‘One Day I Wish’ from 5th July 2019 until 13th July 2019. Sunraysia Gang Show is the largest and longest running youth theatre production in the Sunraysia Region. The event gives over 150 people the opportunity to gain valuable confidence and develop self-esteem through the performing arts.

Sunraysia Gang Show are entering the world of imagination for their 43rd annual performance, ‘One Day I Wish’! Enter the world of Robin Hood, or become a super hero for a day. Jump and jive back to the 50’s, or get up close to some lions on an African Safari; anything you can wish for, we can do it! Get ready for a toe-tapping, boot-scooting country hoedown throwdown – make sure to watch out for those Vikings though! Sing and dance along to new and classic hits and join the cast for another fabulous show.

Performing at Mildura Arts Centre, there is something for everyone.
