This year our Lenten worship and studies will focus on our call to live as people of the resurrection. The series author, Dr. Rich Bimler, provides us with the following beginning insight into what we hope you will experience with us on Wednesday evenings throughout February and March: “As people of the resurrection, we already know how it all turns out: Jesus Christ has died and risen for us. This makes living Lent a different experience for us as we trace Christ’s steps to the cross during this holy season. Lent is a time to ponder and proclaim the fact that after every Good Friday in our lives, there is always an Easter, because Christ has risen. We begin our living Lent journey by remembering Mary’s words at Jesus’ birth. What a great ministry model Mary gives us to follow- to ponder anew what the Lord has done and continues to do for us! Lent is the time to reflect on God’s love and acceptance of each of us. Like Mary, we can “treasure up” all of the blessings and experiences of faith in which the Lord continues to immerse us in. Pondering is the beginning of living out an active faith. Give it a try as you surround yourselves with worship, prayer and sharing this Lenten Season. Share with others what you are pondering today: mistakes, failures and disappointments. Let the Lord turn your heart and mind from those failures into accepting the forgiveness that is yours in Jesus, the same Jesus whom Mary pondered in her heart. In a real sense, the Lord’s Supper is another way of pondering what the Almighty can do and is doing in our lives right now. This sacrament assures us again and again that we are redeemed and renewed for living a grace-filled life in this often grace-less world. Luke 22:19 says “He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’” This scripture is from the passion narrative often read on Sunday mornings during worship. Lent is not the time to remind the Lord that we are trying harder in our faith life, but rather the time to realize that regardless of how hard we try, we are never going to redeem ourselves. Yes, it is true what the Lord has done for us and continues to do for us. His dying and rising makes us his Easter people. Now that is really something to ponder and to tell others about, too!” (Compiled from Dr. Rich Bimler – Living Lent) I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. Psalm 77:12

Ponder Anew!

It’s hard to imagine that the first day of Lent is just several days away. This year our Lenten worship and studies will focus on our call to live as people of the resurrection. The series author, Dr. Rich Bimler, provides us with the following beginning insight into what we hope you will experience with us on Wednesday evenings throughout February and March:

“As people of the resurrection, we already know how it all turns out: Jesus Christ has died and risen for us. Rich Bimler – Living Lent)

I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. Psalm 77:12

Care Ministry

Stressed? Feeling Down? Need Encouragement? Care Ministers don’t just provide care for people experiencing a major crisis.

They also provide care and support for people weighed down by the little things in life. If you’re feeling down, lonely, stressed, or discouraged, you could benefit from the care, support, and encouragement of a Care Minister. It’s free. It’s confidential. And it can really make a difference in your life! To find out more, talk to Larry Bettermann at 303-346-9496 or Pastor Nate Peregoy at 303-779-1332 x 218. We are here for you!

A Quote from The Lutheran Layman “Physically fit people often prove to be much more mentally and more spiritually productive.” Ask yourself what you could be doing in 2016 to be more physically fit so you can be more spiritually productive.

2016 Women’s Banquet It was a wonderful night with 135 beautiful women gathered for a delicious meal and another opportunity to enjoy hearing our speaker, Michelle Rahn. Painted canvasses graced the tables as we heard how all of us are God's work of art. We thank all of the volunteers who helped the planning committee with decorations, set up, serving and washing the dishes. MC this year, Joanne Wille, passed the baton of leadership onto Ashley Neises and her creative committee. Our Father's MOPS group enjoyed another successful FUNdraiser, supported by the generous donations of all who attended.

Learning Community #2 Our next Learning Community event will be held on Saturday, April 23. To better accommodate more members of OFLC, we will offer child care for a small fee. More information will be coming. In the meantime, if you missed the first LC, there will be some shorter "make up classes" prior to LC #2. Prior attendees can also come for a refresher! The next recap class is Wednesday, February 17 at 6:15 pm.

“A Godly Husband” The next Men’s Ministry breakfast is on Saturday,

February 27. Breakfast is at 7:30 am, with our presentation beginning at 8:00 am. The

Library News

Joy! This month the church library is featuring Be Joyful, a perfect resource to accompany the sermon series on Paul's letter to the Philippians. Written by Bible teacher Warren Wiersbe, this commentary is

simply written, practical and yet very insightful. In this Bible study, Wiersbe reveals the four thieves of joy (one for each chapter) and then counters them with the four "minds" the apostle Paul encourages Christians to develop. Be Joyful is inspirational reading for anyone who wants to live in the joy of Christ regardless of life's circumstances!

OFLC Blood Drive The Bonfils Blood Donation Bus will be at OFLC on Sunday, February 21 from

8:00 am to noon. Sign-up at the Reception Desk.
