POP Intervention Project Paper (PIPP) Introduction At four points in the progress of the course sessions, you will formulate and add to a 5-7 page paper that outlines how the information on neurological differences provided in the course connects to the intervention or solution proposed in your Problem of Practice (POP). The topics that should be included and added are described in the course outline. These topics include neurological development, language learning, learning abilities and disabilities, medication, emotion and self- regulation, traumatic brain injury, assessment of learning, instructional interventions, the adult brain, and instructional frameworks such as Brain Targeted Teaching. In addition to the POP Intervention Project Paper (PIPP), you will create a graphic representation that outlines how the information presented in the course supports the intervention being designed in the POP. Additionally, it should outline how the intervention connects to Hardiman’s BTT model or other instructional frameworks. Guidelines for each section of the paper are provided below. All parts of the paper should follow the standard guidelines for APA formatting, organization and references. By the following week after submission of each part of the PIPP, feedback will be provided. The final grade for the PIPP and graphic will be issued at the end of the course. Guidelines Part I 1. Create an introductory statement introducing your current interest as a problem of practice. 2. Support the introduction with a summary of how information learned in the first two sessions have added to your understanding of learning and the specific area of interest for your POP. 3. Be sure to cite the sources (readings, media) that were specifically useful. 4. Limit your summary introduction to two pages. Part I is due for review at noon Monday following the end of session 3 (2/23/15). Part II 1. Continue your description of how the course content from sessions four and five (learning abilities and disabilities and medications) has been useful as you think about your POP. 2. Be sure to cite the sources (readings, media) that were specifically useful. 3. Limit your summary to two pages.

These topics include neurological development, language learning, learning abilities and disabilities, medication, emotion and self-regulation, traumatic brain injury, assessment of learning, instructional interventions, the adult brain, and instructional frameworks such as Brain Targeted Teaching. 2. Support the introduction with a summary of how information learned in the first two sessions have

added to your understanding of learning and the specific area of interest for your POP. 3. Be sure to cite the sources (readings, media) that were specifically useful. 4. Limit your summary introduction to two pages. Part I is due for review at noon Monday following the end of session 3 (2/23/15). Part II 1. Continue your description of how the course content from sessions four and five (learning abilities

and disabilities and medications) has been useful as you think about your POP. 2. Be sure to cite the sources (readings, media) that were specifically useful. 3. Limit your summary to two pages.

Part II is due for review at noon Monday following the end of session 6 (3/23/15). Part III 1. Continue your description of how the course content from sessions seven, eight and nine (emotion,

TBI, and accommodations in the learning environment) has been useful as you think about your POP.

2. Be sure to cite the sources (readings, media) that were specifically useful. 3. Limit your summary to two pages. 4. Create a single page graphic representation of how the material you have found most useful

connects to your POP. This can take the form of a chart, a table, or another visual representation. Part III and the graphic representation are due for review at noon Monday following the end of session 10 (4/27/15). Part IV, Final Paper and Graphic 1. Continue your description of how the course content from sessions eleven and twelve (issues of

diversity and using a framework such as Brain Targeted Teaching) has been useful as you think about your POP.

2. Be sure to cite the sources (readings, media) that were specifically useful. 3. Limit your summary to two pages. 4. The final one or two paragraphs of the paper should offer a summary of the entire course’s

contributions of information on brain development and its place in education as it relates to your interests.

5. Submit the paper and graphic representation as one document to the Gradebook by the end of session 12 (5/9/15).
