A bit of a cheat, because it launches at the end ofDecember, but it'll definitely be in full swingthroughout January if Channel 7 sticks with it (whichis always a toss up). The Muppets return in a brandnew sitcom that is sure to please both parents andkids alike. Kids will want to tune in for the cutepuppets and the slapstick, and parents will love thecallbacks to the old series and the meta­humour.

A month­long celebration of the arts kicks off on Jan 7 invenues across Sydney. Highlights for families include:

Family week ­ runs from the 12th to the 16th, and it's jampacked with heaps of great stuff for school holiday fun.

The Ephemeral City  ­ a crowd­built city made entirelyfrom cardboard boxes and tape situated in theBarangaroo Reserve. Help out in the construction, or justdelight in it's demolition on Australia Day.

Arquitectura De Feria ­ Head on down to Prince AlfredSquare in Parramatta for a truly original fairground. Adultsand children play together, twirling handles and spinningpedals to operate the whimsical machines – including ahand­cranked Ferris wheel fitted out with toilet seats anda bicycle­powered carousel with a whirling crocodile anda rocket ship.
