Safe Environment for Our Children
Did you know students from Pre-K to Grade 12 in our Catholic Schools
and Faith Formation programs receive Safe Environment training every
year as required by the diocesan Child and Youth Protection Policy?
Our Safe Environment training addresses each grade level with age
appropriate curriculum to help our children and youth with knowledge
that can help keep themselves safe while providing this instruction that is
fully consistent with the moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
Last year, over 16,000 students received training throughout the diocese.
Thank you:
To All the families in faith formation who generously gave to the Holy
Childhood collection, we raised $150 for children in need and for all the
paper products, Christmas candy, and kitchen linens. We were able to
give something to all 25 families receiving baskets this Christmas.
The Grade 9 Teens who helped decorate the church for
Christmas. It looks beautiful. Thanks also to the adults for guiding them:
Jacquie and Marv Raile, Janet Grovine, Lisa and Marcus Niessen,
George Kulick, John Graham and Amy Shaffer.
• Classes will resume Sunday Jan 5th with Prek-K and Grade 1 at
9:15am, Grade 2 Jan 8th 6:15pm and Grades 3-8 Jan 9th 6:15pm

From Father Zach
As we transition from 2019 into 2020, I find it a great privilege and
honor to have been appointed your local shepherd and Pastor of Linked
Catholic Communities of Christ the King and Pope John XXIII. Over
Christmas my prayers were for our communities and how God has
shown himself to us in this past year. One of the greatest challenges in
my life this past year has been keeping my priorities and most
importantly I feel that I have allowed God to slip as a priority. The close
of the year has allowed me to examine my soul and the state of our
parishes, our community, and world. It’s gives me great hope because
our shortcomings allow us all to search for what might be missing or out
of place. Let’s make this a New Year of Hope.
This past year we have seen tensions building in our world and many
feel the tensions of the world impacting their daily life. It’s seems that
there’s a lot of things that are just upside down all around us. People
have polarized themselves from one another. Yes, even I have done this
at times. What does this mean? Its means that in 2020 we can take a step
forward and take a deep look at the important things of life. Let’s plan
on the 2020 year and “Seek first” let’s make God the top priority! May
2020 be a year of embracing God’s Kingdom both now and forever!
Let’s make our lives; lives of the living God that was brought into this
world at Christmas.
What Christmas brought to the world with the Birth of Christ was Hope
and it’s in this new year as we focus on building of the Kingdom of
God, we too can become beacons of hope for the all those who are
searching . Let’s place ourselves on the Hill the Heavenly Jerusalem that
new and Holy City where our light cannot be hidden. As the
Communities of Christ the King and Pope John XXIII we can become
an anchor, a guiding light, a place of refuge who just need a place to be
home. By our Baptisms we all are Called to Bring the light of Christ to
all.
When we look at 2019 the power of God has been with us, it’s very
evident in our Saturday and Sunday Masses; Christ the King had to
order more hymnals, and the 10:30am Mass at Pope John’s we are
running out of parking spaces and had to add more seating to the
Church. The growth that we have done in 2019 gives us this great joy of
Hope for 2020. In February that we can also see the great growth that we
are combining our bulletins so that we can have better communications
and the ministers that have been sharing resources can further their
efforts of promoting the Kingdom of God. We are living out the vision
that our new Bishop Lucia as asked to become a focus. He envisions all
the parishes seeing themselves as a part of the Diocese of Syracuse.
Even in the light of the great tensions that are present in our midst we
can keep on being the beacon of Christ for the world to see. May Our
Lord and Savior always be the one we can turn towards in our weakness,
our pain, our joy. May He always be our rock and our strength.
May God’s blessings and Peace be upon us in 2020!
Our friends at Maurer’s Funeral Home have provided a Christmas gift of
a calendar for the parishes. Please take one home with you this
weekend.
