T>e Lyndhurat Women’s Republican' Club has prepared a» elaborate pro­gram as their contribution to the celebration of tip two hundredth an­niversary of the birth of George Washington aad alao to revive in the hearts and minds of thc American people, a just appreciation of thc peat part that he played in the his­tory of our country. Thi* program will be presented in tbe auditorium of the Elk’s Club, Stuyvesant and Tontine avenues, on Tuesday evening. Say 3. .

Th* numbers will include a one-act play entitled, “ Washington’s First Defeat” which will be presented by young Republicans; a series of tab­leau* depicting various events during the life of Washington and a one-act play, “Happiness Day”. Between the tableaux music suitable to tbe occa­sion will be rendered and will include pfano, cornet and vocal .selections. At the conclusion of the program, danc­ing will be enjoyed with music by the “'Melody Boys” , a group, of high school students.

Mrs. M. M. Dickey of 636 Fourth street, is chairman of the.committee which has arranged the entertainment and hair-devoted it groat nmount-«f time and effort in her eagerness to make the affair a big stiecess. SeVariit of the costumes that will be used are the product of Mrs. Dickey’s own handiwork and she also has assisted some of thc other members in mak­ing theirs.

An invitation is extended to the general public to uttend this affair as no admission will be chaVgcd. All ol the first tour named turn out first grade football teams. L y n d h u r s t ' s teams should be noth­ing to fed ashamed of for time to curne. In baseball, Kearny and Nutley have names for having the best in the state. But in basketball, the teams are fairly even w'lth Rutherford having the edge.
