The Jewish Community Centre of Krakow (JCC) was officially opened in April 2008

by HRH, The Prince of Wales in response to a request made to him by the Jewishcommunity during his visit to Krakow in 2002. In its few short years, the JCC hasmanaged to achieve what many thought impossible - it has shown to the world thatJewish life in Krakow is not just a thing of the past, but very much of the present.Located in the heart of Kazimierz, the JCC provides Krakow's growing Jewishcommunity with a space to meet and share ideas in a warm atmosphere, whereeveryone is welcome.A committed team of enthusiastic staff and volunteers works all year round at theJCC to build our community and engage with Jews and non-Jews from allbackgrounds. While we recognize the need to honor the memory of the Holocaust, our hope is that visitors will also have the opportunity to experience contemporary

Jewish life in Krakow, whose vibrancy stands as a living testament to the power ofrevival and the resilience of the Jewish spirit! The JCC has all the professional equipment for organizing conferences and all kindsof meetings. It is also possible to order kosher catering. The Centre is a place that allows various groups and their representatives to meetpeople of all ages, including children and their families. Inhabitants of Cracow andtourists for example, gather on a weekly basis during Sabbath dinners held on Fridayevenings. Everyone has the opportunity to take part in the fruition of our religious, educational and community projects.

They have managed to get their aims for the last fourteen years, working providing

information, supporting and advising in the following main areas: Integration,

    Accessibility, and Rights.

    DYA CASTRO URDIALES

Meeting with Jose Blas, president of DYA Castro Urdiales during the Team Spirit seminar.

DYA was born as a non-profit organization more tan forty-five years ago in

Basque Country. It was created by two reasons: the lack of a public

ambulance service, and the lack of interest of drivers to help the others when

an accident happened. In fact, DYA means Detente y Ayuda, that could be

translated to English as Stop and Help.

Nowadays, DYA has organizations all around Spain (Basque Country,

Cantabria, Andaluca, Extremadura, Catalonia, La R ioja, Galicia, Murcia, tec). These organizations are independent from each others, although they sharethe same values and ideas. They work in different areas most of them focused

to the disable people: Mobility, Accesibility, Counseling, International

humanitarian and aid to developing countries, Integration, and Training and

    Education.

DYA has received a lot of awards and recognitions by his social work.

    CANTU SANTANA

Photo from our visit to Cantu Santanas museum during the first Team Spirit seminar

The organization Cantu Santana (Organization of friends of Castro Urdialess historyand the sea) has as main aims to take care of the traditions and folkways of the town

of Castro Urdiales, and to create a Museum of the Sea. This organization is

integrated just by volunteers who dedicate their free time to their passion: the sea ,

    and Castro Urdialess history.

They have also restored several old boats and ships, and during our visit, they show

us how it was the sailing in the 19

    th

    century.

Its truly interesting for us the fact nobody is employed in the organization, otherwiseall the staff work in their free time in order to develop what they call the Project oftheir dreams. This is a good example of adult education and how to enjoy doing thethings that you like to do.

Stock photo from Baobab organization staff

During the seminar in Castro Urdiales, we met Ainara (youth worker) and Sidia (from Baobab organization).

Baobab (Organization of Africans United) was recently established on March 2012 in

Castro Urdiales. They are 22 members these days, and they are open to all the

Castro Urdiales citizens where they come from of their nationality.

The beginning of this organization is in the Intercultural Meetings developed in Castro

Urdiales, where they have collaborated doing, shows, workshops, food stalls,

    handcrafts, etc.

Sidia also told her own life story and share his experience with us. He explained us

the way he arrived (illegally) to Spain, the lack of communication at first when he

didnt speak Spanish, the culture shock, his life when he didnt have the documentsfor being a European legal citizen, etc, his first jobs, his relation with his family, etc. In

the end, Sidia is the best example of integration in a different society despite the

    culture and social differences.

after they organized a national conference for four days in the month of August withthe aim of promoting their organization nationwide.

Control meets in the Youth Area of Castro Urdiales, where they tend to play boarding

games and ramble about future projects. They strongly believe that the organization

works as a meeting point for people who like playing boarding games, reading comic-

books, collection miniatures, and other alternative hobbies, as well as making friends,

painting mandalas, and sharing books and guides.

They have met the Castro Urdialess major and some councilors recently, because

MAISON DE LMPLOI ET DE LA FORMATION

Interesting presentation about how to build houses and create jobs for people with

fewer opportunities in the Massy district.

Incorporated as a public interest group (GIP) in October 2005, Maison de la

Formation de l Emploiof Paris is part of the national system of employment centers,

from the Social Cohesion Plan. It combines the City of Paris and the Department, the

State, , the Authority, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Paris, the

Chamber of Trades and Crafts and the City of Paris crafts' Universcience.

They work in the aim to build innovative solutions in the field of employment, social

inclusion and economic development through improved coordination mechanisms

and local partners (institutions, businesses, etc)

In essence, it is a national employment organization, where people can go and ask

so that they could be provided job opportunities. Its something very close to the INEM (Instituto Nacional de Empleo in Spain).

    AGENDA 21

The visit to Mission Local, part of Agenda 21 was interesting, talking about how

recycling and the different workshops that are offered in Massy. However, the triple

translation, French, English and Turkish was very time consuming and there wasnt

enough time to explain everything as properly as it could have been possible.

Agenda 21 is a United Nations agreement in order to promote sustainable

development, adopted at the United Nations Conference on Environment and

Development (UNCED) hosted in Rio de Janeiro from 3 to June 14, 1992. This

agreement was signed with the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development

and the Statement of principles on forests. The program is a detailed plan of actions

to be developed at national and local levels, by UN entities, governments of its

member states and private groups in all major areas occurring human impacts on the

    environment atmosphere.

    Spanish participants listen carefully.

    FUNDATION DAUTEIL

The visit to this foundation was, at least for the Spanish participants in this seminar, the mostinteresting of all the visits in the program. Several presentations of various associations such

as the own foundation were done. The Spanish and Turkish organizations that take part in

    the seminar also were presented.

Despite being a catholic foundation, they work with a target group from many religions, and

they dont mind if the others are Jewish, Muslims, Hinduisms, etc. They also provide trainingcourses in order to help people with fewer opportunities to get a job. By doing so, people

without economic resources can get an opportunity and learn about hotel trade, cookery, etc.

After these presentations we ended up having a truly interesting debate about the teaching

of the subject Religion at schools, and how this is ran at our countries. Because of the lackof time, we couldnt debate as deeply as we would like.

The education is divided in two types: public and private education. The first one

is quite similar to most of the Europeans countries. Its compulsory from six toeighteen years old.

The private education is called adult education. In fact, we visited one of these

centers. We could see the way the work, offering training courses to the

unemployed people with rather low levels of educations or without any

    qualification.

Women were offered training courses about Dressmaker.

Both genders (so men and women) were offered training courses about

An example of one of these projetcs, which is focused to immigrants from the

many areas with unique geological, historic, and cultural features. This is theplace of residence of the Early Christians, and after till nowadays of all kinds of
