Marisol Malatesta en su estudio londinense. Al lado de ella, su leo sobre lino Surprise, surprise. Estoy

tratando de estudiar las tcnicas al leo de los antiguos maestros, usando diversos tipos de barnices y aceites para

crear imgenes muy planas y colores muy fuertes, dice.

Son jvenes y comienzan a dar que hablar en el circuito de galeras londinense. Al Per lo

llevan en el corazn, en su trabajo y hasta en la comida.

Marisol Malatesta:

No estoy embarazada!

Marisol es pintora y escultora. Naci en Ica, estudi en la Catlica y vive en Londres desde

hace nueve aos. Durante ese tiempo, ha participado en varias muestras colectivas en salas

londinenses, y el ao pasado tuvo su primera exposicin individual: Im not Pregnant! (No

estoy embarazada!), en la galera Meals & Suvs.

El humor es, para Marisol, una buena forma de abordar temas serios y de reminiscencias

patriticas para nosotros conos religiosos, pintura virreinal, arquitectura inca y hacerlos

dialogar con imgenes de la cultura popular: peridicos, revistas, pginas de internet. El high

art se encuentra con el low art, y el resultado es divertido, pero, bien visto, tambin

confrontacional y hasta violento. Con una maestra culminada en la Byam Shaw School of Art,

Marisol prepara, para mayo, la que ser su segunda exposicin individual en Londres, esta

vez en la Portable Gallery de la embajada del Per en esa ciudad.
