Audi Design Foundation Competition, Newcastle, Jan 2010 Working as a group of two we engaged in a major international competition set by the Audi Design Foundation centred on benefitting the broad community through the application of design. We were the most successful group from the University, reaching the finals of the competition and were highly commended for the Help Me Grow It design concept.

I am also an automotive enthusiast, with various types of vehicles. I have other interests; sporting activities I regularly take part in are football and cricket. At an early age, I played for my local cricket club, winning the league and finishing as the highest wicket taker.

Hot Rod Toy 3D Scanning of Toy Car Shahid KhanPORTFOLIO

This was a University run project, based on learning the techniques of Reverse Engineering, 3D Scanning, Restyling and Cloud Point Data Manipulation. The aim was to scan a car toy and then restyle it in to a Hot Rod Toy using the cloud

points data gathered from the scan.

2) The toy car was scanned using the University Scantech 3D Scanner.

1) The toy car was sprayed with a white primer, primarily the windowswere the most important, because they were transparent and it would make it hard for the scan to read the window if not sprayed.

3) Scans were taken from the X and Y Positions (this was the side and the top). Below is the screen displaying the position and section being scanned.

Cloud Point Data Analysis: Overview

The cloud point data come in seperate sections. The side cloud mesh wasduplicated, to create two sides which were merged together with the top mesh to create the full car body mesh.

The merged car body ready to be restyled and modelled into a Hot Rod Toy.
