Objective: Corby Distilleries Limited is a

leading Canadian manufacturer and marketer

of spirits and imported wines. The goal was

to take the Company to a new stage in its

150- year history and to carry it across

stationery, signage and corporate collateral.

Results: The logo successfully highlighted

the Company’s business focus – the wine

and spirit industry while delivering a

balance between premium tradition and

dynamic modernity.

“I am extremely proud that the stimulus for

our new Corporate logo came from one of our

own employees, in particular Louis. It confirms

to me that we truly are a forward thinking

Wine and Spirit company, with a strong and

proud history, but an even stronger and

brighter future ahead of us. Our employees

feel that, and Louis was able to articulate that

in the form of creative inspiration. That makes

me proud as a leader, and extremely confident

that we are one unit, with a common view of

the future we wish to shape.”

objective: To produce three publications

as part of the commitment to Ontario’s

secondary school students—to provide high

school students with important facts about

the options and opportunities available to

them as they are planning for their futures.

results: The concept established words

in a formal, but not rigid layout. Text was

separated into easy-to digest chunks,

offsetting headings with energetic imagery

and composition. The Ministry of Educa-

tion and the Ministry of Training, Colleges

& Universities was delighted with the end

results. The first two booklets were available

at the universities. The three booklets were

distributed to Ontario’s public and private

high schools, provincial schools, care and

treatment centres, libraries, employment

centres and all Government of Ontario

information kiosks.

objective: McGuinness Exotics is a new

brand in Canada that was launched in

May 2009. There was a need to develop

a look and feel for the brand that would

establish the essence of the brand in a

very urban and contemporary fashion.

At a glance, consumers should be able to

clearly identify that this brand has a

‘super fruit’ influence.

results: A whimsical illustrative approach

was taken to embody and highlight the

brand’s uniqueness. The vibrant colours

and energetic graphics are inviting and

communicate a dynamic urban message

while keeping the look cool, fresh and

fashionable. Central to the point-of sale

merchandise, the creative was carried

over to print magazine ads, tastings and

promotional events.

objective: A national retail campaign was

developed to help raise money and awareness

for the Canadian AIDS Society.

results: Working closely with the Canadian

AIDS Society, the biggest challenge was in

creating a custom 4-panel necktag that would

sit on the bottle without obscuring the limited

edition front label. Inspired by the Canadian

AIDS Society ribbon, the necktag was the

cornerstone of the programme providing

creative direction for the other elements

including case cards, shelf talkers, print ads

and banners.

objective: To design a poster that would

communicate architecture and design

in Toronto. The challenge was to create a

design that would be simple, compelling

and memorable.

results: The poster is based on an ancient

Chinese puzzle called a ‘Tangram’. It is a

form that challenges the creative thinker

to construct a specific form using all seven

pieces. In this case the letter ‘T’ for Toronto

was constructed as the primary element while

a representational image of Toronto plays

a supporting role, resulting in a powerful,

graphic image.
