ConceptThe design for this space will be based off of the qualities of light. Light cannot by itself be seen, but it enables everything to be seen. It cannot be tasted, touched, smelled, or heard, but it is a powerful aspect of life. It illuminates and creates shapes
and forms, and can manipulate space like nothing else can. The design for Godiva will utilize these aspects of light, and incorporate its mysterious yet brilliant qualities. Another big inspiration for this space is the paintings of Mark Lawrence, which are very geometric and refl ective.
Mark Lawrence’s paintings had a large infl uence on the fl oor plan, as well as the shapes and forms of the fi xtures and other elements in the design. The qualities of light can be experienced in the material choices, many of which have translucent qualities.
This Project was designed for a PAVE student competition where 1000 square feet was given to design a Godiva store suitable in any location. The space incorporated a cash wrap, theatre area, cafe, and a display area. Also part of the competition was creating an original display case to house the chocolate.

The concept for this design focuses on the zipper; each part representing a different space. It brings people in to the space, connects and disconnects them in different areas, and creates the fl ow of circulation.

This was the fi rst of many projects involving collaboration, and each team consisted of two interior design students. The project is a sattelite corporate offi ce for Briggs &
Riley Travelware, which is headquartered outside of New York City. The offi ce incorporates their marketing, accounting, and human resources staff. The space takes up about 10,000 SF of an old dairy building on the south side of Savannah, Georgia.

This assignment focused on creating a light box showcasing three different types of lighting. There is a wall wash on either side of the fl oor plane, diffused lighting on the back, and fi ber optic threads with beads on the end hanging from the ceiling.
The drawings on the facing page were part of the technical design portion of the class, and consisted of a light map, RCP, and Electrical plan for the space in our collaborative studio.

Engaging the residents to participate in meaningful interactions with each other through the utilization of small activity nodes within the facilities. The residents will be able to have purposeful exchanges with each other as well as visitors, and the community will be incorporated into their daily lives. Each area will employ the residents while not overstimulating them, and will be tranquil and soothing.
