Description

The Hue chair has a design of human sensibility and ergonomics. With multiple shades of color, and built in LED lights, this chair is unique in its design. The chair consists of multiple panels linked together by two rods that consist of the LED lights, solar panels, and RFID. When exposed to enough sunlight during the day, the LED lights will emit light at night. This will create a beautiful light display in the park at night.

The vertical, parallel panels of The Hue chair allow for weather conditions such as rain to easily roll off of the seat. The panels also allow the chair to be easily stacked by simply placing each chair in between each panel space. The two circular rods that run through The Hue chair panels enable multiple stacks of chairs to be secured together front and back.

The Hue chair is made of the recyclable plastic, Polyurethane. Polyurethane is a unique material that offers the elasticity of rubber combined with the tough-ness and durability. The great advantage of using Polyurethane is that it can be easily recycled if The Hue chair experiences any kind of damage.

The process of making the Hue chair consists of producing a fine powder from recycled consumer parts mixed with virgin materials to create the new Hue chair form that will be injection molded.

After Life (The modular internal components)

Description

The Life Phone has all the features of a typical cell phone designed for the elderly, but with a modern twist; it’s also designed to be eco-friendly. The Life Phone uses an Organic LED (OLED) screen, and recycled PET for its keypad (also replaceable).

The most important feature of the Life Phone is its modular internal components. The internal components are designed to be modular so that they can be easily replaced if any one part spoils, instead of having to replace the entire phone. Should the user be younger or more tech- savvy, he can also choose to upgrade parts of the phone like the flash memory or the camera to better suit their needs. The unwanted parts can then be shipped back to the manufacturer to be properly recycled or disposed of. This will significantly increase the lifespan of the phone as the user would not have to discard the entire phone due to one damaged or outdated component.

The modular internal components are also essential to the afterlife of the phone. When the user eventually decides to move on from this phone, any of the parts that are still working can be taken out to be used on their own, independent from the phone, thus extending the effective lifespan of the unit.

Initial DesignInitial design improved the problems that front and top load have. But, the model indicates another problems. Around shape causes spacing problem, and it does not have a storage place for detergent.

Page 18: portfolio

Final DesignThe final diagonal-load washer improved the problems that front and top load have. ‘QUOA’ provides ergonomic posture and makes it easier to load clothes. Also you can easily see the bottom of the inside of ‘QUOA.’
