The Glitter Bones Press Kit was created for the band Glitter Bones in order to showcase the achievements of the band. Not only did I design the publication, but I was also the editorial photographer as well. I fused design and photography together to translate the music in a visual format. This press kit has since been sent out to record labels from Chicago to Paris.

Much like the Glitter Bones Press Kit, the BIGCOLOUR Press Kit was created to showcase the achievements of the band. When designing a press kit for a musician, the single most important aspect of design is translation. The press kit will only be successful if it visually represents the music of the band. I feel this was achieved through the style of design I chose. Unlike the Glitter Bones Press Kit which has a very structured look, the BIGCOLOUR kit displays the all-over-the-place feel the band’s music has. Yet at the same time displays an element of consistency which ultimately defines the music.

This is a 50 page concept book I created while still in school. I laid out each spread, illustrated it, and even bound it myself. This project taught me much needed knowledge on the physical production of a publication. I learned the importance of bleeds and slugs, and how difficult, yet vastly rewarding, it can be to construct a book from start to finish, from book board and glue to dust jacket. Winnebago Geyser was the project that made me decide I wanted have a career within the publication realm. This is my favorite project to date.

Top Music is an information design concept documenting the most played songs on my itunes up to date. Each circle represents three plays. The numbers correspond to order of songs (1 being the most played song). The colors represent wether or not I would play the song as of now.

Books on Novels is a conceptual piece based on the books found in my personal library in relation to the locations (in Chicago) where I found each book. The publication houses clean simple design with a limited color palette.

The Ishmael Design Book is a concept book showing the mood and tone of Daniel Quinn’s novel ISHMAEL rather than telling the story with words. The mood and tone is depicted with design elements, colors, and the flow from spread to spread. As the pages turn, the spreads get more and more conceptual illustrating the complexity of the original book.

Gypsy Ancestry is a record label from Chicago which began in the summer of 2010. It was started by myself and my brother in order to put out the music our friends were making. I created the entire identity from ground up. The label represents the music found on it, which tip toes on the line between deep woods psych-folk and hazy electronic pop topped off with leering dark undertones. This body of work not only shows my skills as a designer, but it gives the viewer a glimpse into the window of my personal life.

Noe Tea is a fictional tea company from San Francisco. With this work, I developed a brand essence and core values surrounding the fictional company. Every element of design, from layout to colors, was specifically chosen in order to more accurately depict and relate back to the core values, while all falling under the blanket of the brand essence.

Amulet Calls is a cassette produced by the band Glitter Bones. It originally was meant to be an online EP however It was decided to be released as a cassette tape with a few bonus tracks.

The design focuses on a fantasy realm which the majority of the songs are based on. In this particular release, the songs echo the beauty of a far-off planet thriving with the power of magic. The design as a whole is a direct reflection of the sound.

Did You Know? is a concept design for a series of posters for billboards and large scale urban printing. The project surrounds the horrors of factory farming and its effect on the human race and environment. The design is clean and simple, not to detract from the message of each poster. The message is further enhanced with clear, straightforward illustrations.
