I’M A TWENTY YEAR OLD MALE. I WAS BORN IN AUGUST 1991 IN REYKJAVÍK AND RAISED IN THE SMALL TOWN OF HVERAGERÐI, SURROUNDED BY COLORFUL HOT SPRINGS AND RAW NATURE. THE YOUNGEST OF THREE SIBLINGS, MY CHILDHOOD INFLUENCES WERE THE MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPES, MY FAMILY AND FOLK-LORE. ALONG WITH THE COMPANY OF CREATIVE PEOPLE, THE LANDMARKS OF MY COUNTRY HAVE REMAINED MY STRONGEST INFLUENCES. I AM TAKING MY FINAL YEAR IN FJÖLBRAUTARSKÓLINN Í BREIÐHOLTI PRE-PATORY SCHOOL, MAJORING IN ARTS.

This video was a final assignment last semester for a sculpture course, it was exhibited at Gallery Tukt in Reykjavík. I got the highest possible score for it. It was a study of a combination of lighting, colors, texture and sound. I think toilet paper has such interesting texture and i wanted to recreate the round shape of the toilet paper roll everywhere i could. The accompanying soundtrack was a mixture of high pitch noises, cricket sounds, bird sounds, wind and rain to create an intense atmosphere and viewing experience.

PAINTINGSmy painting process rarely includes sketchwork. I like to work organically without plans and see where it takes me. My main influences are Antoni Tapies, Anselm Kiefer, Mark Rothko and Lucian Freud.

“FEMALE FIGURE ON ABSTRACT”Acrylic paint and ink on A1 paper. - 2011The process of my painting is usually very coincidental, i paint in an honest way and get into cathartic state of introspection and meditation. When I did this painting I wanted to add something figurative. It resulted in this pregnant female figure connected through the navel cord to a computer organism.

“MOSS/MUD”Acrylic paint and ink on A1 paper. In my home town there are many hot springs and a lot of raw nature,With this painting i wanted to use the colours in my general environ-ment and paint an abstract paint-ing that portrays the feeling of that rawness of the nature.

“TOILET PAPER THRONE”toilet paper rolls, bed sheets, curtains and sewer tubes. This is an installation I did for a sculpture class last semester. This piece has a direct connection to the video work also featured in this portfolio. Mainly I wanted to study this combination of textures and colors. The throne can be symbolised very simply as the “throne” of the ice-landic government today after the recession.
