Area Action Plan for Rawabi - Unplanned settlement in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The aim of an area action plan is both to improve its attractiveness to the private sector, and to coordinate private and public regeneration. Area action plans are supported by design guidelines, cost models and phasing strategies to ensure a consistent approach across issues and scenarios.

Development Project of Andrejsala comprises the regeneration of 36 hectares of former harbour land on the right bank of river Daugava. It envisages a gradual transformation towards an aesthetically conceived multi-functional urban environment with top-class architectural features. The project also provides for specific attention to sustainable environmental quality, values of multicultural civic society and development of intercultural relationships. Innovative architectural and engineering solutions will be put in place. Issues related to transport, energy and area management will be dealt with in an environment-friendly way. Project contents:

TERRITORIAL planning

Territorial plan for Usmas pagasts– Usmas pagasts is located in Kurzeme next to Usmas lake. Teritorrial planning is accourding planning normativs and regulations. The main issue for the area was to provide all residents with access to waterfront. Chaotic develepment in the past has created spatial disbalance between public and private ownership. Planning also apply to state – owned natural reservior in the area. 2006

Sections

Pampus park in Ijburg – IJburg is a residential neighborhood currently under construction. Consists of 6 artificial which have been raised from the IJ Lake in Amsterdam. Park is planned to be the central recreation place for residents of the area.

Wooden private house – Traditionaly built wooden house from logs. Located in rural area and planned to be family house for 3 peaple. Design process recuired additional knowladge in folk building traditions and many consultancy with specialists and craftsmen. The building proccess were organized in old traditonal way what requires special prepared logs.

Private house – Renovated family house in Katlakalns, Riga. One level building designed for 4 people (one family) to live and share living room and kitchen. There are two seperate bed rooms. In the garden stands old friut trees. Additionally designed garage as complately new building and includes basement.

Service station – Located in Riga Darzciema street. Initially was designed for new entrepreneurs, who was starting bussiness. Building site located next to the motorway, appropriate for such activities. Project is approved in local municipality, but not yet released due to financial difficulties.

Spatial Development concept of Brivibas street – the large-scale spatial structure represented by a common parameters. Analyses of spatial interaction and use in various street areas fragments defines the space and character. Action, intensity and ownership draw development dynamics, which will play important role in the future.


DIPLOMA project

Diploma project– Urban design for an area of 100x200 m’ (20.000 m2) with a maximum height of 50 meters. In this space you should accommodate 100.000 m2 of program. Houses, apartments, commercial space, political space, heterotopia’s, space for the gods and space for the dead. Also interstitial space is required (in between space). Project figures: 2500 inhabitants 700 flats 500 parking

3rd year project (1)– Hotel in Riga city center. Location is on other side of Vermana garden. Building site was empty and was planned to fill with 4 star hotel. Project includes all floor plans, 2 sections, façade sketches and ideas of finishing. Material selection and interior sketches.

4th year project (2)– Sketch project of residential building for 100 residents, improvement, playground for children and row houses for several families. All designed as one residential district. Technical drawings and solutions.

6th year project – Analysis and master plan for Rigas Central market. Rigas central market is located next to the central station. The market is 72,300 square metres (778,000 sq ft) wide with more than 3,000 trade stands. Project was aimed to provide city council with analysis about existing situation and give recommendations about future development.

Community action supportive urban planning- the paper reflects the role of local communities in environment and urban development. Evaluated the planning and basic criteria for attractive environment for the local level. The paper analyzes and describes the trends in municipal housing planning in Riga. Look at the situation in Riga, analyzing legislation and the experience of local government housing area. Surveyed municipal building Bolderājā, Dzirciems and Dreilini. Analysis of neighborhood context: functional diversity of neighborhoods, accessibility, and interaction with other neighborhoods. Space syntax methodology used in the accessibility analysis of municipal buildings located in Riga. Graphical materials, schemes and maps describes the planning milestones, as well as visualization of the municipal building environmental advantages and disadvantages.
