This first project is based around the self promotional publication I designed, entitled ILLUDE.

Included within, is a celebration of creative direction, styling, set design, and fashion photography. These are all key interests of mine.

The reason I have chosen this title is based on its definition of the unreal, tricks of the mind, and the imagination.

The fluid shapes of the letters in lowercase looks appealing as a bold title, and the subheading underneath gives an idea of what is to come.

I l lude Publication

Welcome to the very first issue of ‘Illude’. A publication that turns the imagination into reality.

With a selection of creative and beautiful photographs, I will present my love and interest in set design and styling. Celebrating the un-ordinary, the enchanting, and the whimsical.

From sourcing beautiful vintage props and creating those by hand which are completely unique, this publication presents a diversity from each theme to the next.

Float through the pages, and who knows. You may even find yourself in a new magical world of your own...

From Concept to Creation.

Here are selection of images from the Ethereal Enchantment photoshoot. Keyinspiration was taken from John William Waterhouse’s Pre-Raphealite art, natural photography from Yelena Yemchuk, and the Peclers trend for Spring-Summer 2011, entitled Floreal.

Antique golden apples individually sprayed by hand. The background has been digitally blurred to add to the dreamy mood.

Handmade ivy headress, and vintage tapestry dress. A natural haze of muted colours. The sun-light and rainbow filter pick up glowing outlines.

Clusters of flowers upon the models head links her to nature. Her bare feet and loose flowing dress present an effortless beauty.

For this project I focused on different concept storesand shops which presented an individuality in thier appearance. Examples of the shops I looked at include, ANTHROPOLOGIE, DOVER STREET MARKET, COLLETE AND MERCI in Paris, and CORSO COMO in Milan. Innovative ideas in retail spaces as well as imaginative Visual Merchandising techniques were a key focus for this project..

Shopping Guide... Trend Concepts

For this project I created a trend setting shopping guide based on vintage and individual boutique shops found around parts of London and Milan. Taking inspiration from the next seasons trends and looking at publications such as Drapers and Textile View, as well as online sources such as Peclers, I have been able to have been able to create a guide which will lead my customer to the shops which will provide them with the most up and coming fashion trends.

Below are three of the trends I used. Initial storyboards and moodboards were created in order to successfully set up an interesting set based on the specific trend, with items within the set sourced from the particular shops in the guide.

Shopping Guide.. Layout

For the ‘Country Checks’ trend I draped and wrapped checked garments around this tree. I also tied ribbons which blew nicely in the wind.

For the ‘Winter Folk’ trend I created moundswith embroidered and floral clothes. I wantedthis to look like a hilly area where Iillustrated over the top with paisley tents and hippy style bunting. The mixture of colours, patterns and shapes are reflective of the styling for this trend.

For the ‘Black Sparkle’ trend I decided to create a set in the darness only lit by spotlights and reflections of light in mirrors. By illustrating sparkling gems over the top I feel this set conveys the trend successfully.

Self Initiated Project... Trend Focus

Autumnal Brights Plaid Punch

For this project I looked into trend prediction for Autumn/Winter 2010 a year in advance. Here are two of the trends I chose to look into. I wanted a location with muted backgrounds so that the model and garments would stand out well. I was the stylist and photographer for this project.
