CLASS LOG
Evaluatión vrs. Assessment
July 23th 2011
Today’s class was very interesting. We learnt a new face of evaluation and
how is it different from an assessment. An evaluation is more formal or planned
than an assessment. An assessment can be done at any time of the teaching
process.

Group presentations about Formal and Informal Assessment.
July 30th 2011
Today’s class was very dynamic. We were organized in groups to present
activities for Formal and Informal assessment. Every group was very different and
all of them gave us ideas to improve and also to apply in our classes. Something
interesting were the topics, each group presented their ideas with much innovated
topics.
I believed it would be good if every group would give an explanation or would
clarify which activities were Formal and which were Informal, so we can learn
more clearly.

Blue print August 06th 2011
Today´s class, honestly, was kind of confusing. Today we learnt about the
whole deal about test building. I believe that we are used to make test in a very
automatic way, without thinking about all the things that we must have to include
or take into account.
The blue print is a chart that helps us evaluate to what level of skills we got with our
students with each topic. And according to it, we must include the same
percentage of items in the test. We use formulas to know the exact time and
number that a test must have.

Blue print and the previous chart August 20th 2011
In order to create a blue print, we must measure the time that we spent on
each topic of the unit, for this, is necessary to make a pre-chart. This chart will give
us the information that we need to know how many items of each topic we should
include in the test.
Another interesting fact about this is that it also helps us to measure or evaluate
the way we are teaching, and in what way are we teaching the topics. For
example, we tent to make a lot of activities for our students to remember, but we
do not make them analyze or apply.

Test building September 9th 2011
Today’s class was very interesting. It was about how to make a test. Surprise
it takes more than we thought, it requires time and patient in order to create a test
that will be useful for our students. The steps to fallow are quite simple, but we have
to be aware of many things in the moment of building one.
The first thing is to make a list of all the content I taught during my curse. Then I
have to think about the time I spend on each topic, so I can be sure of what
content is going to be more important. Now, something interesting is that in this
process, we can also evaluate the way we have been teaching. This is because
the next step is to think about to what level of the taxonomy we got with each
topic.
According to this, we will decide what kind of series we are going to make, if it is
going to be only memory, applying or creating. After all this is done, we have to
think of the percentage that each series is going to have and also each item. It is
very important to make sure that each series is going to have the adequate
number of items and that each is going to be well scored.
Finally, we make the number to see if everything is fine with the number of items
and the score of our test.
This class taught me that making a test is really more difficult and interesting than I
thought.

Test Types October 22nd 2011
There are many test types when we talk about the form they are building
and the skill they are measuring. In order to make a good test, we can take into
account the next types of tests that are used in every level of skill and also in any
grade or topic.
Multiple choice
Assessment performance
True of false
Essay questions
Matching
Short answers
Something important is to make sure that before using any of the types, we must
have made exercise or practices in class, so students won’t get confused with the
instructions of the way the items are building.
Each group presented very interesting things about each type, one of the most
interesting war essay questions, because even it seems easier for the student, it is
very complicated for the teacher.
My group and I talked about assessment performances, and I really liked it
because I think is non stressful form to evaluate and the only thing that we need
are the rubrics in order to objective in the score the give to each student.

Evaluation techniques curse can be described
as a very simple, but useful curse. It gave us tools
that we can put in practice from the moment of
learning and also the advantages are more for
the teacher than for the students in deed.
The difference of assessment and evaluation is
basically the time and how formal it turns during
the process of teaching.
We can, and must assess our students in every
moment of teaching, because we can measure
if the objectives are being reached or not. With
a good assessment we can make a decision of
turning the way we are teaching certain topic,
in order to make it better for our students.
Test building has to be rely on how did we teach
the topic, how much time did we spend in the
topic and also the kind of activities that we use
to practice the topic.
Test types are a very good form to vary the way
we evaluate our students, using the different
techniques of forms, we can guarantee that the
test that we make are going to be valid based
on the way we taught our classes.
