The purpose of this project is to stimulate the social interaction lost with the decline of the rural post office. The concept revolves around regeneration of conversation and interaction between the former Post Office community. The intent is to relocate the communicative aspect of the Post Office.

Hedgerows are a defining aspect of the rural landscape. They provide shelter, community, protection and cross pollination, they are in themselves, micro communities. Acting as a tribute to the Post Office ethos the hedgerow seems the perfect location to trigger and renew dialogue.

Not unlike the urban tradition of talking over the fence, the Living Post Office explores relationships and spontaneous conversation. By replacing the interactive service of the Post Office and combining it with the rural landscape, the hedgerow creates a living scape and the beginning of a conversation.

The Living post office invites you to engage in a conversation inspired by your rural surroundings and prompted by the decline of your Post Office.

Our aim is to protect the communicative and social community that naturally materializes along side the post office.

The hedgerow is a micro community in itself and a metaphorical replacement for the post office after it has gone.

LIVING POST OFFICE

Infinity has acted as an interface between my scientific and religious research. It’s ability to transverse between opposing

ideas, forms and scale is intriguing.

INFINITY

The zoetrope changes something purely auditory into something interactive and visual. As the zoetrope rotates the figure is animated and begins to dance. The figure in the zoetrope is interpreting a piece of piano music through dance. As the viewer watches the dancer they are able to visualise the sound of the piano music without hearing it.

Geno type was developed in conjunction with my experimental book which explored the concept of infinity. While making imagery in response to my ongoing research I used heat sensitive paper to create some genetic code imagery, The heat sensitive paper lent itself perfectly to producing a typeface that was intrinsically linked to my practice.
