ZOO BRASÍLIA This brand identity project was made for my graduation Major in graphic design at the University of Brasilia and came to fruition after being presented to the board of directors of the actual zoo.

The public didn’t know what the former brand of the zoo looked like because it wasn’t propoerly presented to them and it didn’t have a solid visual identity, which caused a series of incoherent applications of the brand. Besides, in face of upcoming events such as the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the zoo was already having transformations for better accomodation of its audience.

The solution is simple and direct in order to be quickly recognized and remembered among so many attractions from the zoo. The logotype also represents the wide open spaces, a feature from both the zoo and the city of Brasilia. The swash in the Z was inspired by a jaguar’s tail, the biggest cat from Brazil and can be also seen as a smile with the O characters representing two eyes.

MONTE PARNASO Monte Parnaso is a aesthetics treatment and dermatology clinic located in Brasilia. The studio where I work (Boibumbá) was responsible for their naming and brand identity.

The name selected refers to Mount Parnassus, a mountain of limestone in central Greece that towers above Delphi.According to Greek mythology, it was the home of the nine Muses, goddesses of inspiration.

Thus, the brand’s symbol consists of a nine-pointed star with triangles that represent the character M as well as the synthesis of a mount on the inside.

Paintings with Mount Parnassus itself and realistic floral themes were used as illustrations to support the brand. These images reinforce natural beauty and give color and a feminine touch to the brand’s identity.

STATIONERY REDESIGN FOR APEX-BRASIL

Apex-Brasil is an agency that promotes Brazilian products and services abroad, attracting foreign investments to strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy.

In 2013, after the release of their new brandbook, there was a need for a complete redesign of the company’s stationery, one of the main and strongest means of expression of a brand’s identity.

Among many others, the project included pieces such as business card, a collection of envelopes, documents folder, letterheads, greeting cards and badges.

SHOPPING CART FOR PEOPLE WITH DWARFISM

This was my Major in industrial design graduation project. The idea was developed from the will to do something related to mobility that could solve one or more everyday problems that disabled people faced. After long researches of what kind of disability to approach, I ran into dwarfism, a forgotten minority that encounters many daily of challenges because they don’t fit in the society’s average standards. Examples of these challenges would be using an ATM, a public phone or shopping in a supermarket.

The design of the shopping cart propose solutions to catching the products in the shelves, putting them in the cart, making contact with the cashier to pay for the items, among others. In order to give the cart an identity, the support of a brand was suggested. So, the colors and layout of the cart matches the identity of Extra, from the Pão de Açúcar Group, that already has several social practices.

PUBLIC EXTERNAL CONTROL OF MERCOSUL

This book was created when I was working at TCU, the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil. It presents the role and results of the work of entities responsible for fiscalization of Southern Common Market (Mercosul).

It has two versions, one in Portuguese and another in Spanish, the native languages of the members of Mercosul.

PORTAL DECORAR.NET PortalDecorar.net is a pioneer project in Brasilia and nearby. It’s a website that connects potencial customers to architecture and decoration products and services from partner companies, advertisers and professionals. The customer can find products and services’ specifications, prices and payment conditions, making everyone gain time and efficiency to negotiate in a faster and safer way.

I was invited then to create their brand and visual identity as well as develop the layout of the website. The idea behind the design of the logotype was to make use of a geometric style with a friendy look, giving personality to something originally cold and neutral. This concept relates to the concept of decoration, customization and the main architecture style of Brasilia.

SCIENTIFIC ILLUSTRATION These drawings were made for the class of Scientific Illustration at the University of Brasilia, a subject from the department of Biological Sciences. The fauna and flora from the Cerrado region (form of savannah where Brasilia is located) should be represented in these projects so I selected the suinã, a typical plant to be drawn with pencil and an alligator skull to be made with the technique of pointillism in ink.

The drawings were made according to the standards of format, pose, proportion and description that are used in scientific illustration.
