PLANT SCHEDULE

plantsFront Garden, Killara

Re-design of entrance to the property with emphasis on a plant palette to create interest in textures and form. Xanthorrhoea, doryanthes and some South African plants were key in the client's wishes. Leucadendrons and Leucospermum feature on the bank with a combination of Australian and other exotics to portray an informal garden experience that excites the eye. Silver and claret coloured foliage plants are used with seasonal flowering in hot colours - oranges through reds, russets and golds.

Foliage plants with richwarm colours.

Flowering shrubs and treesadd tropical splendor.

Large lush leaves give atropical feel and great for

shady spots.

Low bowl planted with succulent specimen.

Bright coloured leaves add low maintenance splashes of colour year round.

Tropical

Tropical style is all about colourful foliage, rich textural interest, bright flowers, impact with leaf shape combining to create a lush and colourful canvas. This style is often associated with holiday memories of a tropical paradise somewhere comfortable to lounge listening to the gentle trickle of water or enjoying a beautiful water lily floating in a water bowl.

Plants to use for creating your tropical paradise include palms, bromeliads, gingers, cordylines, cycads, bamboos, flowering shrubs and climbers. Trees such as frangipani, michelia, tibouchina are perfect. Mass plants with textural interest (such as cordylines, bromeliads, gingers) into blocks that create defined shapes. Graduation in heights between the massed plantings adds to the effect to create a lush tropical look.

Timber, stone, water and colourful accessories all work with this plant palette to embody the Tropical garden style.
