Sometimes you meet

people who are so good

at what they do. Some

like to make a noise and

tell you what a great thing

they are doing. Then

there are those that quietly

go about their craft and

maybe they underestimate the happiness they

can bring to peoples lives from what they do.

Enter Webby. He is a surfboard shaper. He

is the above.

Getting the oppurtunity to photograph this

type of person is inspiring, humbling, and can

put doubt into your own abilities. It is also a

great way to test how dust-proof your camera

equipment is.

The images in this portfolio are small windows

of a surfboard shapers bay, and they complete

‘Shaped - Portfolio I’.

I got to observe a joy shown by grown men,

women, parents and groms coming to pick up

their new surfboard that can only be compared

to that of a child’s first glimpse of the tree on

christmas morning. Every single one of them!
