Technology is transforming education today, and it will continue to do so tomorrow.

Uses digital mediums to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom and in the online environment.

A procees rather than a product.

It is incorporation of internet and other information technologies into the learning experience.

To uplift the learner to human learning through the use of technology.

Technology offers many advantages than disadvantages.• Technology is one of the greatest invention of mankind. It is so powerful that it shapes

our thinking and our way of life.• Technology is a tool invented and sharpened by humans to make their life easier. It has

made our life easy, comfortable, simple and luxurious.• technology is supporting human so much that now a person can work from his home.• It has help a lot in uniting people. In fact with the help of internet the world has just

turned into a global village.

Technology doesn't make man. Man make technology...hence it depends on the use we employ it.... Nuclear energy is indeed destructive....However if we use it constructively its great boon.... Rocket science has many peaceful uses for space exploration and kind. But if harnessed for war purposes it's bond to be destructive.... Similarly Television and Internet has its own plus and minus side. If human mind tilts toward destructive uses then we can't take technology itself at fault.

Those who know the correct application of technology, be it any sphere of activity, have manage to make lives easier for themselves and to some extent also for others.

SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO TEACHING(Systematized Instruction)

The focus of the instructional study is the students. It tells about the systematic approach to teaching in which the focus in the teaching is the students. At this point of teaching should be systematized the planning of instructional objective on approach in teaching. instructional objective should be the one most to be considered teaching career as very important to present into the student in teaching so that the student has an interest to learn by the giving instructional objective they presented on the class...and also it must be creative so that the students can attentively listen on the class.

The system approach views the entire educational program as a system of closely interrelated parts. it is an orchestrated learning pattern with all parts hormoniously integrated into the whole: the school, the teacher, the students, the objectives. the media, the materials, and assessment tools and procedures.

Elements of Systematic Approach1. Define Objectives

Instruction begins with the definition of instructional objectives that consider the students' needs, interest and readiness.2. Choose Appropriate Methods

On the basis of these objectives the teacher selects the approprite teaching methods to be used.3. Choose Appropriate Experiences

In turn, based on the teaching method selected, the appropriate learning experiences and appropriate materials, equipment and facilities will also be selected.4. Select Materials, Equipment and Facilities

The use of learning materials, equipment and facilities necessitates assigning the personnel to assist the teacher.5. Assign Personal Roles

Defining the role of any personnel involved in the preparation, setting and returning of this learning resources would also help in the learning process.

Page 17: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

6. Implement the InstructionWith the instructional objective in mind, the teacher

implements planned instructions with the use of the selective teaching method, learning activities, and learning materials with the help of other personnel whose does has been defined by the teacher.7. Evaluate Outcomes

After instructions, teacher evaluates the outcome of instruction. From the evaluation results, teacher comes to know if the instructional objective was attained.8. Refine the Process

If the Instructional objective was attained, teacher proceed to the next lesson going through the same cycle once more. If the instructional objective was not learned and finds out why it was not learned in order to introduced a remedial measure to improved student performance and attainment of instructional objectives.

The Roles of Educational

Technology in Learning

Page 19: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

Technology can play a TRADITIONAL ROLE as delivery vehicles for instructional lessons, or in a CONSTRUCTIVIST ROLE as

partners in the learning process.

Page 20: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

Traditional RoleIn the Traditional Way, the learners lerned from technology and technology serves as the teacher. In other words, the learners learn the content presented by the technology in the same way that the learners learn knowledge presented by the teacher.

Page 21: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

Constructivist Role

In Constructivist Way, Technology helps the learners build more meaningful personal interpretations of life and his/her world. Technology is a learning to learn with, not to learn from.

Page 22: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

The Roles of technology in Learning

From a Constructivist Perspective, the following are the Roles of Technology in Learning. (Jonassen, et al 1990)

Technology as tools to support knowledge constructionTechnology as information vehicles for exploring

knowledge to support learning-by-constructingTechnology as context to support learning-by-doingTechnology as a social medium to support learning by

conversingTechnology as intellectual partner to support learning-

by-reflecting

Page 23: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

Technology as tools to support knowledge construction.

• For representing learners' ideas, understanding and beliefs.• For producing organized, multimedia knowledge bases by learners.

Technology as information vehicles for exploring knowledge to support learning-by-constructing.

• For accessing needed information.• For comparing perspective, beliefs and world views.

Technology as context to support learning-by-doing.

• For representing and stimulating meaningful realworld problems, situation and contexts.• For representing beliefs, perspectives, arguments, and stories of othes.

The Roles of Technology in Learning

Page 24: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

Technology as a social medium to support learnin-by-conversing.

• For collaborating with others.• For discussing, arguing, and building consensus among members of community.• For supporting discourse among knowledge-building communities.

Technology as intellectual partner to support learning-by reflecting.

• For helping learners to articulateand represent what they know.• For reflecting on what they have learned and how they came to know it.• For supporting learners' internal negotiations and meaning making.• For constructing personal representations of meaning for supporting mindful thinking.

CONE OF

EXPERIENCE

Page 26: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

Cone of Experience

Page 27: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

What is Cone of Experience?

Dale's Cone of Experience is a visual model that is composed of eleven stages starting from concrete experienes at the bottom of the cone then it becomes more and more abstract as it reach the peak of the cone. Also according yo Dale, the arrangement in the cone is not based on its difficulty but rather based on abtraction and on the number of senses involved. The experiencs on each stages can be mixed and are interrelated that fosters more meaningful learning.

According to one of the principle in the selection and use of teaching strateies, the more senses that are involved in learning, the more and the better the learning will be but it doe not mean that concrete experience is the only effective experience that educators should use in transferring knowledge to the learner. Like what was mentioned above, the experience in each stage can be mixed and are interelated thus, a balance must be achieve between concrete and abstract experience in order to cater the and address all the need of the learner in all the domains of development and in order to help each learner in their hollistic development.

Moreover, the generalization about the cone of experience that was presented above is not enough. Actually, we should try to go deeper in each of the component of the cone since Educational Technology basically revolves around the Cone of Experience. By going one-by-one, starting from concrete to abstract, we will undestand more the different components of the cone that will help us in grasping the real meaning of educational technology.

Page 28: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

Stages of Cone Of Experience1. Direct Purposeful Experiences

These are the firsthand experiences which serve as the foundation of learning. In these level, the learner learned by doing things by him/herself. Learning happens through actual hands-on experiences. This level explains and proves one of the principles in the selection and use of teaching strategies, the more senses that are involved in learning, the more and the better the learning will be. This level also proves that educational technology is not limited to the modern gadgets and software that are commercially available nowadays. This shows that even the simple opportunity that you give to each child help them learn.

Page 29: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

2. Contrived ExperiencesIn this level, representative models and mock-ups of

reality are being used in order to provide an experiencethat as close as reality. This level is very practical and it makes learning experience more accessible to the learner. In this stage, it provides moe concrete experiences, even if not as concrete as direct experiences, that allows visualization that fosters better understanding of the concept. 3. Dramatized Experiences

In this level. learners can participate in a reconstructed experiences that could give them better understanding of the event or of a concept. Through dramatized experiences, learners become familiar with the concept as they emerge themselves to the “as-if “ situation.

Page 30: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

4. DemonstrationsIt is a visualize explanation of important fact, idea

or processthrough the use of pictures, drawings, films, and other types of mediain order to facilitate clear and effective learning. In this level, things afre shown based on how they are done.5. Study Trips

These are excursions, educational trips, and visits conducted to observe an event that is unavailable within the classroom.6. Exhibits

These are displays to be seen by spectators. they may consist of working models arranged meaningfully or photographs with models, charts, and posters.

Page 31: Portfolio in Educational Technology 2

7. Television an motion pictures and still pictures, recordings, and radio

I decided to combine these two stages since it is related to one another. Because of the rapid development of the modern technology, a lot of people believe that Educational Technology is limited to these stages. They are not aware that these stages are only a small portion of EdTech. For television and motion pictures, it implies values and messages through television and films. On the otherhand, still pictures, recordings and radio are visual and auditory devices that can be used by a learner that could enhance and extend learning experiences. 8.Visual symbolic and Verbal symbolic

I also choose to combine these two because they are used hand-in-hand. These two levels are the most complex and abstract among all the components of the Cone of Experience. In the Visual symbolic level, charts, maps, graphs, and diagrams are used for abstract representations. On the otherhand, the verbal symbolic level does mot involved visual representation or clues to their meanings. Mostly, the thing involved in this level are words, ideas, principles, formula and the likes.

Conceptual Model of Learning

There exists a number of models and theories about learning that is ideal in achieving instructional goals through preferred application of Educational Technology.

These are:

• Meaningful Learning• Discovery Learning • Generate Learning• Constructivism

The Student After Educational Technology 2

The learning environment should be flexible and structured in ways that support their individual goals through technology.

It becomes more effective and efficient in using technology. We learned on how to use instructional aids to help in attaining

our teaching objectives and not just for the sake of having them. We are applying what we have learned in Educational Technology

to our activities in the other subjects. Know the limitations of using technology. Know the right way of using technology. Make instructional material that is connected to a particular

topic.
