A note from our MD

Magnet, which was established in Durban in 1972 by my parents, Ernest and Janice Howarth, has expanded its operation significantly to become leaders in electrical supply to industry and energy-saving project management in KwaZulu-Natal, and throughout Southern Africa. Magnet is a family company in every sense of the word. The Magnet family consists of over 100 employees, all of whom believe in the company and subscribe to its ideals. The Magnet brand, as such, is represented and empowered by our team, which reinforces Magnet’s Mission Statement. At the heart of Magnet is a philosophy which drives our business – we believe that the Customer is King. Emergency LightingCompliance with safety regulations and standards necessitates the installation of Emergency Lighting, based in both the interior & perimeter. Magnet’s Emergency Lighting Offer includes Emergency Exit lighting and Portable Lighting.

Hazardous Area LightingIn locations where fire or explosion hazards may exist due to flammable substances, lighting installed in such areas must be specially designed and tested to ensure it does not initiate explosions. Magnet’s range of lighting for these areas comply with the most stringent technical standards and specifications.

Lighting Control SystemsOccupancy sensors ensure that lights are automatically turned off in unoccupied areas, or areas with high natural light. The Lite-C wireless lighting control is an exclusive product to Magnet, and is a retrofit solution which controls multiple lighting fittings from only one sensor.
