Born in Beugen in 1993, Ruben de bruin moved to Boxmeer when he was 3 years old. He grew up in the center of town. His father was working at Stork until he got another job as Head facility Manager of a couple of sec-ondary schools. His mom worked as a clothes saleswoman. As a young kid he drew fast sport cars not only for himself but also for his classmates . When he went to secondary school in 2005 he choose Art class as one of his main subject. His teacher always said that he had talent, and how more he focused and took his time the better his drawings where. After getting some good compliments about some drawings, he decided to continue draw-ing. In 2008 he started a workshop about water coloring at his aunt. In 2009 he started a new continuation schooling at Helmond. At his new school he started getting digital art lessons. He noticed that he enjoyd it, but that he liked that art of the pencil more.

Biography

Facinated with the art of drawing, he became a huge fan of Marvel & DC Comics. He loves the style that some characters have, especially the joker. The surealistic world where the people live in always reminded hem of his youth and the super powers he wanted to have. He began to make some of his own drawings of excisting Heroes & villians. In

His style

his spare time he likes to be creative as well, but in a studio. He makes his own music on the computer, The music variates from Minimal Techno to Hardstyle and from Dubstep to Hip Hop. Besides a bit of computer time he also works out a lot in the gym. To have his body in good shape is a must!

Portfolio Post-Apocalyptic City

This Post-Apocalyptic City was made in Photoshop cs3 . It took him 5 hours to make.

A world in flames and destroyed by war. This theme suits the style of Ruben perfect. Not because he wants the world this way, but because he sees the world this way. Ruben was always facinated by a sureal and Apicalyptic world. What happens when the world comes to an end or a third world war breaks out?

With this in his mind, he started to make the world how he tought it would be in war. Broken houses and broken homes. Skyscrapers who would fall out of the sky. Soldiers and tanks marching treu the street. Helicopters cirkeling around in the city

The one thing that Ruben kept in his mind was the cause of the war. Whas it the end of the world by nature, war or something outside planet Earth?

I think this picture gives a realistic view of an unrealistic world

choosen to put up around the community hal in Helmond . Ruben Came up with this idea after seeing some other festival posters. Combined with his research about expedition Robinson and his idea of a deserted island. He came up with this design

The city of Helmond came up with a theme about Expedition Robinson ( a tv show). The class was splitend up in groups of 4 people. Each member of a group had to make 3 individual assigments. One of the assigments was to make a poster that clearly showed the theme of the party. After a presentation this poster got

One of the school assigments was to combine 2 pictures. One picture was a background and the second one was of a person. Because Ruben liked the comic character verry much, he combined 2 of hes favorite character: Batman and Captain America. During the making of this picture he faced some problems with the 2 wallpapers. The wallpaper of Captain America had some rain in it. So he began to think of a solution. After some research he came across a method to make rain. After some editing he ended up with a Movie Poster that looked like 2 Movies became one!

This was made in Photoshop and took about 3 hours to make. The funny thing about the picture is that it looks like 2 movies collaber-ated into a new movie.

In his sparetime Ruben likes to make his own music. Every producer his his own artist name. As you can see at the picture Rubens name is Re-burn. In the logo you can see the R & B. That letters have two meanings. First of all it stands for Re-Burn, but it also stands for Ruben (de) Bruin. You can see the fl ame in the opening of the R. refering back to the Burn part of the name

PortfolioIn his second year op Hand & Design, Ruben had an internship at Tars Visuele Presentatie. Tars is a medium big business that mainley designs and produces stands. At one moment a business came to Tars and asked if he could make the stand design more clear for people. Ruben came with the idea to make the stands in Google Sketch up.
