MasterPackage – ‘Ask us’ campaign
Chubb were looking for a complete visual change for their
Commercial division.
As part of the brief, they wanted to include images of their
employees to show that they are a people driven company.
A consistent graphic treatment was required to improve
the overall quality of the supplied images. One solution
was to create ‘Andy Warhol’ style art, the end result was
this very distinctive identity.
This campaign included launch literature in five languages,
conference material and promotional items.

Building a Multinational Programme
There are two key components of Chubb’s
controlled master programme – the master
policy and the locally admitted policies.
■ The master policy is issued in the
company’s ‘home’ or head office country
and provides a consistent scope and level
of cover for all of the world-wide territories.
This is achieved by combining the two key
master policy clauses, DIC (Difference in
Conditions) and DIL (Difference in Limits).
■ Admitted policies are issued in the
countries of exposure, usually to meet
local legislation requiring insurance to be
issued or ‘admitted’ by insurers licensed
to do business in that territory. Policies
may also be issued for other reasons,
for instance where an overseas client
prefers a local language policy.
Based on both your client’s and the
local country insurance requirements,
Chubb can help you assess the need
for admitted policies. Furthermore,
we provide access to an on-line guide,
giving comprehensive insurance
and regulatory information on over
140 countries, called ‘World at A
Glance’. This is accessible through
Chubb’s UK website:
Managing the flow of informationChubb will communicate the details of the
admitted policies required to the local
Chubb office and policies will be issued
in accordance with the instructions we
receive from you. This information is
managed by us through our proprietary
Internet-based MAPS® system which links
all of our offices world-wide and helps to
administer more than 12,000 admitted
policies for Chubb. This makes requesting
and issuing the local insurance contracts
easy and efficient.

Admitted policies are typically issued to
provide a good level of cover locally, while

involved, our claim staff in the controlling
country will adjust the loss and discuss the
claim with the controlling broker.

broad range of technical and professional
qualifications. This extensive network
enables us to co-ordinate local loss control
services for your clients with multinational

make recommendations for loss prevention
and risk management. If there is a loss, we
can quickly arrange for the appropriate local
representative to be available on site to
assess and help contain damage, and put
measures in place to minimise disruption
to the business.

Marketing material for the IFA market
The primary objective for this project was to raise
awareness of the benefits and services that Cofunds
offered the IFA market.
Part of the solution took the form of a branded desk
calendar which was designed to give a year-long presence
in front of brokers. The client was so pleased with the
creative, they requested that it be sent out early and
so it became the world’s first 15 month calendar.

We recently announced that, following the completionof negotiations with the BMI hospital group, all of theirhospitals will move onto our Countrywide List witheffect from 16 February 2003. Together with the otherprestigious hospital groups such as BUPA, Nuffield andCapio already included on this list, it means that ourCountrywide List now contains every private hospitaloutside London and all NHS hospitals with dedicatedprivate patient units.
Existing individual and corporate customers will beinformed of these changes as their policies renew.

Rate changes with effect from 16 February 2003Individual businessThe underlying rates for our Primecare range and Choicesproduct will rise by 4.2%. This follows no increase at ournormal November review which was deferred because ofthe impending changes to our hospital lists. Mostproducts not open to new business will see the same4.2% rise with the exception of our non-NCD Saver andSuperSaver products which will see a 10.5% rise.
Company businessRates for our company range of products will rise by 4%. For our Primecare 6 week and SuperSaver products, which are no longer open to new business,rates will rise by between 4.5% and 7.5%.
London Upgrade premiums to reduceWe are also pleased to say that, thanks to a reduction in the premium loadings for our two London Upgradeoptions over our Countrywide List, premiums for these two lists will be substantially lower with effect from 16 February 2003.
So customers who currently have our Extended List (and who will automatically transfer to our Countrywide Listat renewal), or who have either of the London Upgradeoptions, will benefit from lower premiums once their policiesrenew after this date. And, of course, it greatly enhancesour competitive position in all parts of the country.

When Boots sold Halfords to CVC
Capital Partners they left the new owners
with both problems and opportunities.
The opportunity was the profit generated
from the UK’s number one retailerr in the
car accessories and cycle sector. Halfords
had 400 stores, 11,000 product lines and
a £525m annual turnover. The problem?
Getting a system to manage it all.
Halfords relied on an ageing mainframe
computer that was not only inefficient,
time-consuming and costly to maintain
but soon to disappear, as the mainframe
belonged to Boots, its former parent.
Compounding the problems, disparate
IT systems existed within the company.
Halfords solution was to invest in a
new Head Office system and after a
comprehensive selection process they
chose SAP – and bought a new IBM
mid-range platform to run it on.
When you lack the IT skills to support
your new infrastructure and don’t have
the time to acquire them, the answer is
to find a partner with the expertise and
experience to do it for you. Acting on a
recommendation, Halfords came to Serco.
The resultant SAP solution controls all the
key aspects of the business from finance
and HR to ordering and stock control.
More efficient processes and technology
are now making a visible difference to
the lives of Halfords customers and staff.
A just in time delivery system has enabled
Halfords to maximise retail floor space so
that, instead of being tucked away in a
warehouse, stock is out on the shop floor.
And customers like Richard Jones can
find what they want when they want it.
When Richard Jones spotted the perfect bike in a Halfords ad it was late on the eve his son’s birthday. Richard was relieved to find the right model and size at his local branch. Had he seen the warehouse it would have been empty. Serco aims to keep things that way.

We have relaunched our Village of Les Boucaniers in Martinique and it will open againfor this winter season. A former haunt of the pirates of the Caribbean, this site has longbeen one of the most well-known at Club Med and also one of the finest in the FrenchWest Indies. The objective of the renovation was to make it even more beautiful, bright and colourful, by emphasising its authentic character as a charming fishing village with lively Creole traditions. It now has a magnificent swimming pool, a choice of several settings and styles, as well as completely new rooms. All in all, a verysuccessful relaunch!
And in the Maldives, the sublime island Village and dream destination of Kani has beengiven a whole new look. This Village is a paradise just above water, bordered by a whitesandy beach.
